  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

New Genesis owner here and having problems with navigation routing. My system refuses to consider routes utilizing interstate hwys. I have the 'avoid hwy option' unchecked, as with all other driving condition options. Even if already on an interstate, Nav constantly proposes getting off at the next exit and taking secondary routes, while I know there are no traffic conditions to justify avoiding the interstate system. I have tried using both Fastest Route and Shortest Route to no avail. Certainly waze has spoiled me, but surely Hyundai can do better than this. What option setting am I missing here?

TIA

There are different Nav systems that have been offered. What is the trim level of your Genesis? If you have a 2015, the you have a 2G Genesis, not 1G.

Regardless of Model Year and Type of Navigation system, the Nav should not be acting this way.

I would suggest Checking and then Un-Checking the "avoid Hwy option" to see if the system was stuck in that mode. If that doesn't work, ask your dealer for a replacement Nav Unit with the latest Nav Mapping update (for free).

My last car used to do this in some areas. I noticed it mostly on city streets that are also a US Highway (e.g. parts of Broadway in NYC are also US Route 9). I think the map data may consider some of these routes as highways even if they're surface streets. If so, this would be a problem with the map data rather than with the navigation system itself. I haven't yet taken my Genesis on the same routes to see if it does the same thing.

Mine briefly acted up this way on one occasion. I did a reset of the navigation under setup and it was fine after that. I did have to re-enter my previously found destinations.

This along with other navigation problems makes one wonder what it will take to correct these 2G defects. My 2015 is one that has non-functioning voice recognition. Dealer has had the car a few times and cannot correct it. At this point, they say they will speak to the "engineers" again and get back to me. Of course, that was a month ago!! I'm not holding my breadth. Hurts to think we paid for features that don't work, and none seems to be able to correct.

I gave up on my voice recognition a week after I took delivery in March. I actually forgot the car has that as a feature. It never worked for me and the amount of times I had to repeat myself I found it was faster to just do it manually.

I'm surprised that '15 owners haven't gotten a petition going on the voice recognition problem.

I have not seen any vehicle with great voice navigation. The Genesis through Googlee is the best I have seen. One problem is that the address is not stored in previous destinations, so it is hard to find if you have multiple points in the same city.
