If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. I can see why, dealers in Vegas have been trying to price gouge and have over 20 cars sitting on the lot, and don't want to deal...LOL

After month-over-month sales increases since it's introduction, the 2015 Genesis had a drop in sales in May, despite generous incentives and the auto industry in general having a record month. While significantly up yoy vs. the 2014 model, this is a stumble. Thoughts?

GENESIS May 2015 3,168 April 2015 3,437

A few things. You may be reading the figures incorrectly to start - that higher number was May 2014, not April 2015 as you posted. Even so, the numbers do not match the PR text, likely due to the fact that the Genesis numbers include the coupe. The overall Genesis number was actually up from April 2015, which was 3,159. In any event, the numbers in general were not vey good across the board for Hyundai.

A local dealer said Hyundai H.Q. has all dealers set a month over month sales groth of 30% each month.

You are correct, sir. Doesn't do to read a lot of figures on an iPhone screen.

Looking again, May volume does seem like a significant decline in sales growth vs. earlier months. And after reading the Press Release, I'd agree that the lower gas prices of late are putting more folks into SUV's and Trucks but then that demographic isn't going to cross-shop against the Genesis.

Hyundai dealers are independent businesses, not owned by Hyundai Motor America. HMA can set whatever sales goals they want, but Hyundai USA and worldwide sales are decreasing, primarily due to lower gas prices (Hyundai faces stiff competition in the SUV/CUV segments, and Hyundai had bet heavily on fuel efficiency for all their vehicles). Stiff competition from Japan due to falling value of Yen doesn't help either.

With Sonata being Hyundai's. #1 volume seller and the Sonata averaging 38 mpg on the highway (they say 36mpg, I get 36 around town). Together with Hyundai's challenges right now. I see them pushing for higher sales whether the network of US dealers like it or NOT. Period.

Oddly enough, Hyundai US does not separate the Genesis sedan and coupe sales numbers. In Canada, Hyundai does separate its sales numbers.

At least they do know that the sedans sales are up over prior year.

There is a new Coupe platform coming for MY2016....I believe. That may have some impact....but should result in deep discounts/clearances on the MY2015 to make space for MY2016s.

The SUV/CUV segment is saving General Motors. Without it, they'd be up shit's creek. It's a very important segment at this point in time...

I can understand the slower sales for the Genesis coupe. There is a lot of competition in that market, especially the new Mustang, while not much competition for the sedan (none at the price point of the 3.8 base model). As much as I love my Genny sedan, I would buy Mustang over the coupe, just not one an eco-boast engine.

I am sure that HMA is pushing for higher sales, and that the dealers would like that also. But pushing doesn't always make it happen, unless they start offering very significant price incentives to dealers, over and above what they have now.

Sales for June just increased +1. Taking delivery on 2015 Ultimate Ibiza Blue/Ivory tomorrow :)

This is complete nonsense! With the Chevy Camaro, Corvette, Cruise, Impala, Malibu, Sonic & Volt alone, GM (via Chevrolet) sells more cars monthly in the U.S.
than all car brands other than Ford, Toyota, Nissan or Honda. Last time I checked, none of these vehicles I've listed above or below are SUV's or CUV's.

Chevy Cruze - 23,752
Chevy Malibu - 21,461
Chevy Impala - 11,506
Chey Sonic - 9,067
Chevy Camaro - 9,753
Chevy Corvette - 3,514
Chevy Volt - 1,618

*80,671 Total Sales: May 2015 (for just 7 Chevy Models)*Truck, SUV & CUV models are not added

Difference in opinion. No big deal to me.

Based on local dealer and a dealer 210 miles away, who are both reporting exploding Genesis sales for June.. Like 4X more than typical.. Look for June sales increase. At local dealer the other day, they had four prepped for delivery. And that was a week day. IF this is similar trend generally across the country, June sales will surprise.

Sales numbers are one thing; profit per vehicle is another. GM makes upwards of $10,000+ profit per SUV, which is perhaps what the OP was suggesting is "saving" them. This article would suggest the same: http://www.nytimes.com/2014/07/25/b...ulling-the-weight-at-general-motors.html?_r=0
