  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Thought it may make sense to start a discussion on other options for those contemplating a new Genesis. Although the car is not officially released for a true comparison, there is enough data and rough pricing to speculate how it would fare against other contenders - at least on paper. For some like myself, I will be shopping Mercedes, Lexus and BMW. The Genesis clearly offers a huge value when compared to most of those cars, but for those who are comparing, be good to see how this new Genesis will stack up - in some cases to a used model.

In particular, I have recently considered a CPO Mercedes E350 AWD. Optioned 2014 E350 AWD's will list at $62K and can be had for about $56K today.

For a little over $40K however, one can get a 2012 or even a 2013 with under 20K miles. Yes, it's used, but with a MB CPO car, the warranty can be extended until 2020 for a 2013 car. The E350 is built like a tank and in most recent consumer reviews, scores highly. With the sport version, it is tighter and the post-2011 cars have the newer engine and enhanced electronics. What it lacks is the tech in the Genesis, a larger engine and things like real leather. They are clearly two different cars that will appeal to different tastes, but it is not as simple as a list of features, which on paper the Genesis would win, but a lightly used, CPO MB can be had for the same or less and be free of repair bills for 7 years.

I have also been "paper" cross shopping but included Audi, Jaguar, and Infinity. My reason for doing this is that is that I definitely want AWD preferably with 5.0 but if only the V6 is going to made available with the Genesis, I need compare the car to all of the other V6 AWD cars before making a decision. The 2014 MB has the direct shift stalk on right side of steering wheel which I do not think I would like. Does not have power folding mirrors and the rear view camera only works if radio is on. Strange.
