  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

It is rumored to be available in the 2023 model. Plenty of existing reading here about the subject - search will help.

It's not available, and based on the fact that we're coming up on two years of 2nd generation Genesis availability, I have my doubts as to whether it's going to be available on the Genesis. Our potential savior in this matter could be the G90; the hope being that if it becomes available on the G90, the systems are similar enough that there could be carry-over. As of now, Hyundai has been disturbingly quiet on the issue, which is almost never a good sign.

Hmmm perhaps there's hope?

It's going to be available on the Sonata via paid upgrade. Maybe that's where they're going with the Genesis as well?

I just saw the articles popping up about this. So CarPlay for the Sonata went from available in 2015 to available in 2016, and it went from a free upgrade to a paid one, and there is still no mention of the Genesis? I would hesitate to call that something to be hopeful about.

Hyundai and their new premium/luxury brand concept gets more laughable every day.

Well I can understand the cynicism, but there is new information there that was previously unknown, and it's that Hyundai is willing to offer the upgrade on some vehicles retroactively (albeit for a fee). That's certainly better than not offering an option on previous vehicles at all (which is what happened with Blu-Link between 2012-2013).

Ultimately, I would hope the customer wins out, especially on the Genesis, since we have made a financial commitment to Hyundai's luxury auto. One would think Genesis and Equus owners satisfaction would be a high priority to management as they attempt to spin off and grow the Genesis brand. Considering the amount of $ (billions?) that Hyundai will spend launching Genesis Motors, I would think getting a software fix would be a drop in the bucket.

I honestly don't believe it's a cost issue, I believe it's a technical issue related to the fact that the high-end center console is completely different hardware and software than the middle-tier. Hyundai basically had to design, develop, integrate, and fully test 4 completely different permutations:

Android-Based AVN 4.5 Android Auto (8", likely shared with the Sonata)
Android-Based AVN 4.5 CarPlay (8", likely shared with the Sonata)
Meego-based DIS 2.0 Android Auto
Meego-based DIS 2.0 CarPlay
