2015 HID High Beams?

Hi Everyone,

Happy to finally be a part of this forum.

I currently drive an '09 3.8 with Tech Package and love it, but I definitely lust after the 2015 V8 Ultimate (with HTRAC, here in Canada One thing I can't find anywhere, is whether or not the high beams are HID, and not just the low beams. In my '09, the high beams offer almost no discernible difference over the low beams, and are just boring old halogen. It's odd... almost like a tiny spotlight in the middle of my vision.

My girlfriend drives a Mercedes GLK, and her HID lights are incredible. The massive change in the arch of light from low to high beams is remarkable, and the high beams are bright, beautiful HID goodness, just like the lowbeams.

Any insight? I also just found out that the 2nd Gen Genny doesn't have AFLS anymore Just auto-leveling. I'm stunned as to why.

Yes they went with Bi-Xenon which is HID on both hi and low beams. The Gen1 fired up a set of halogens for high beams. That being said the light output on high is much, much improved on the Gen2. As for AFLS, yes it was dropped and probably as a cost savings measure. Honestly, I could not see the difference except it was cool on startup to watch the headlight dance. A feature I do not miss simply because I could never see the benefit. There must be one but it was marginal at best.

In Europe the 2G Genesis has Bi-Xenon headlights which are pointing in turn and auto leveling system.
Today I spoke with the technician in the dealership about that.

I'm not sure that's correct - I've seen videos of the European G2 and I don't see the the headlights as being adaptive - just self leveling like they are everywhere else. The original G2 launch materials in NA said the the car had adaptive headlights and it was just an error - so could be the same misinformation in Europe? Let us know...

Easy to see. When you start the car up the lights should move up and down and from side to side before setteling down to it,s final position. If it does not do this, they are not AFLS. Most dealers said they were but what the heck do they know. As mentioned, both the Canadian and US brochures and the on line Hyundai site said they were part of the package but they were not. The European/Asian models do offer much more equipment so it is very possible they have this feature.
