  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

2015 Hyundai Genesis 5.0 v8 Oil Consumption

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
You may have an oil pan leak if you have oil consumption issues. Check with a mechanic. I would advise not going to a dealer, as they do have an incentive to hide that from you while the car is under warranty.

I am getting my oil pan replaced too. I had an oil leak issue.

Did you have drips in the driveway? What was the problem/defect with the pan? I've heard of damaged ones but never a defective one but anything can happen.

I'm not sure I agree with this, I was under the impression that Genesis paid the dealer for the parts and labor, this keeps the dealer's repair shop running, labor busy, and employees paid.

I remember taking my G37 into the Infiniti dealership a couple of months before my warranty expired and pointed out a few things I wanted fixed, and asked them to check the whole car out. They ended up replacing the AC compressor, power steering pump, battery, and part of my dashboard, all under warranty - and did very good work.

Was that Sewell?

That could certainly be the case for some, I work at a car dealership so I put it on the lift and have done a very very very thorough check of the whole car (with all under-panelling removed). No leaks or residue anywhere. Absolutely no drips on this car.

I agree somewhat, I work in the office portion of a service department. Our techs don't get paid as much on warranty work but once they are on the job they keep their eyes open for anything that needs to be done. So in other words it kinda works for both parties as to, the more stuff they find the more they get paid, and the customer gets covered.

It goes both ways, I have seen techs elsewhere wait to point out an issue with a vehicle until the warranty is out.

But more than not I see techs that want to help customers get everything taken care of while under warranty.

My 15 5.0 uses no appreciable oil either between changes. Now with 72000Km (40000 miles) and usually fill it with Mobile 1 synthetic but have also used Royal Purple synthetic with no difference.
I swear by Royal Purple but I was told that Royal purple isn't the best choice for my 2015 5.0. Also, What brand of engine coolant do you use?
