Hello, I have recently purchased the 2015 Hyundai Genesis V6 Ultimate two months ago and up until now it has been a wonderful car. I came from a 2012 Audi A6 Prestige and this car measures up to that one in almost every situation. However recently, I have been having low to medium constant vibration and shakes through the steering wheel and driver seat. I believe I have seen this issue posted but cannot find if anybody has found a resolution. I have been to the dealer three times amd each time they state they are balancing the tires and making adjustments which is beyond me. I don't understand how you can balance the same set of wheels in a time span of one week. The last time they stated my left front tire is out of spec on the road force machine and will be replaced tomorrow. However today, my car has not been vibrating which leads me to believe this is not a tire issue. If anybody has a similar issue please post here. Thanks guys!

Is the vibration the same when first driven and throughout the day or does it go away after 10 miles of driving?

Does it happen to smooth out after 5 or 10 minutes of driving? What brand/model tires are on your car ?

It has been the same for the past two weeks no matter how long I am driving. I have the new Michelin tires they put on due to the recall since I bought the car. The vibration never really gets worse or better expect randomly today, it's just constant all the time. The tech said he felt it and tried to balance again my last visit but that didn't do the trick so tomorrow they will be replacing the front left tire which I doubt will help but we shall see.

Sounds to me like their balancer is out of whack. Or else you have a bent rim. Did you tag a curb or pothole?

Take it somewhere else and see what happens.

No potholes and I haven't hit a thing so I got the car. It seems there were big threads on this vibration issue however there was never a resolution with a couple users stating he was enacting the lemon law. Curious to see if anyone it still facing a vibration issue. Thanks for your help.

Please tell s if its only when the tires are cold or if keeps vibrating after the car is driven a while.

Not a cold/warm flat spot problem then. That's something.

Keep vibrating the whole drive, but now it seems intermittent, at least for today. It will vibrate almost like an excessive rumble, then be smooth and not vibrate at all. But to answer your question directly, the cold, warm, or length of drive does not affect the vibration. Do any of your guys steering wheel rumble? In my Audi A6 and Infiniti M56 the steering wheel is always smooth and I cannot feel a thing on the road.

Same here. I can feel it on the steering wheel horn pad and can actually see my hand vibrating. When it's really just a rough road surface my hand won't shake when placed on the pad, but vibration from the car itself can be felt on the pad, among other places.

I have filed suit over the issue.

Glad to see I am not the only one. When you say you filed suit, did your dealer agree to buyback the car or did you file with the BBB for a lemon case? What did you dealer do for you regarding this issue? This situation is truly odd, my steering wheel doesn't violently shake but constantly rumbles which I never feel in any of my cars.

JordanT, is your car AWD? It seems that most of the cars experiencing this symptom are HTRACs.

My dealer has been great - it's HMA that is failing. The dealers don't seem to have any idea what's causing the problem. My best uneducated guess is to lay the blame on something like the front driveshaft or the right half-shaft, but like I said that's only guessing. I wonder if we'll ever know or if HMA will just quietly fix it on the fly and the problem will just disappear from future production. My guess is that if they know what the cause is, it's too expensive to fix on a TSB basis and they'll just deal with the few of us who won't give up on a piece-by piece basis. I still love the car, though.

Three of my replacement Michelins have been replaced a second time and my wheels have also been replaced, but a smooth ride is still elusive. My vibration isn't constant, but it's never gone for long at highway speeds. It seems to start showing up at around 70 - 72 mph most often. I still get the morning, flat-spotting vibration every day, sometimes slightly, sometimes more, but it always appears every single day when first driving the car. That particular symptom consistently goes away after two miles or so.

It's a Michigan Lemon Law suit. There was no response from Hyundai to my lawyer's "Last Chance" letter (as required in Michigan) within the prescribed time limit so the suit will progress. I know nothing more at this time and have been told not to expect any further news before mid-October.

I have had exactly the same experience as ckon, except my Dealer went through 3 sets of Michelins before the problem was resolved. The key was to have the wheel/tires 'Road-Force Balanced'. I know others (including ckon?) have had this done, but still had the vibration, but for my car it certainly worked. The Highway vibration is 90% gone although the flat-spotting issue overnight is worse than I ever experienced with the original Hankooks. I also find the Michelins noisier but the ride is slightly improved.

Overall, I am still not happy about the tire swap as it did not cure the problem it was supposed to (the flat-spotting) and overall the Michelin they have used is a lower specification tire than the Hankook in terms of speed rating (not a huge issue I grant you), load rating, vibration and noise. I can probably live with the Michelins, but since there was nothing wrong with the Hankooks, I don't see why I should have to. From my perspective Hyundai have de-valued my car with this change, not enhanced it.

just felt this vibration today and had the car for 2 weeks, not sure if I'm having the same issue as discussed, the tires are Michelin.

I have the AWD and set the cruise for 70 or 72 98% of the time. Smooth as glass.

These 2 statements are particularly interesting - as they seem to also be the first & only ones to indicate the flat spotting issue continues with the Michelin tires. I have not experienced this issue on my Michelins either.

There is nothing if not a remarkably consistent inconsistency here regarding the issue. :/

My car is RWD so it doesn't look as if one model is having the issue. Just got back from the dealer today, first they replaced the front left tire and tried to send me on my way. I asked for a test drive and still had the issue so I have the car back. They let me test drive another Genesis to see if it was the same and the one they let me test drive was horrible. Even the tech stated it was worse than mine. The service manager proceeded to tell me I needed to heat the tires and drive on the highway for 20 minutes then come immediately in the garage to have the wheels road force balanced, I agreed. I then test drove the car with the service manager which did not exhibit the vibration. He told me to call him within the next two days and let him know if the problem arises again which I definitely will. Hyundai Motor America actually contacted him while I was there and if the problem does not stay fixed we will begin discussing a buyback which the service manager agreed. I will keep you guys updated!

Other than that, since when is it okay that these tires flat spot overnight? I have never had these issues with any other car or tire, my Audi A6 Prestige has 20 inch wheels and never exhibits this issue at any time. I told the service manager I won't report the flat spotting in the morning, but only if it continues to vibrate throughout the drive after 10 minutes. Has anybody actually changed the tires or rims on the car and fixed the issue? Any input is appreciated, thanks again guys!

If tires have nylon in their construction then they are likely to flat spot overnight. Most performance tires have nylon cord belt in the construction. If a tire is constructed using an aramid fiber belts in place of nylon then flat spotting is less likely. This in nothing new regarding nylon in the construction of tires. Cold weather flat spotting was a problem with most tires until the 1960's when polyester cord and Rayon cord was developed for tire construction.

Any updates? My '15 is almost three weeks old now and the vibration is present the moment I pull out of my garage (at 30 mph) which makes me think flat-spotting (which is ridiculous to get flat spots after an overnight rest) but I also get it at highway speeds. Had the dealer road-force balance, issue remains. They let me test drive another Genesis sedan (AWD) and it did the same thing.

Very frustrating.

Tony

You may want to have them check the rotors for possible warping
