  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Well I must say Hyundai did a more than excellent job on this completely new vehicle. Not a single recall yet and no one is really having issues to speak of. Only real complaints we are seeing are more to due with personal preferences than anything else. In comparison to the Gen 1, it is a major improvement. Kudos to the engineers and quality control at Hyundai. Look out Mercedes, BMW and Lexus, there's a new kid on the block who is grown up now.

+1! :)

They need to fix the V6 vibration and moon roof noise before I am a buyer.

To my knowledge there is no V6 vibration and the sunroof noise just needs some judicious lube. :) I've had no problems with mine otherwise in 14,000 miles.

I really do not know of the vibration you speak of unless you are referring to the tire flatspotting issue which seems to have affected a handful or so. As for moon roof noise, I do believe this was only on the early run units which had this issue so essentially it is now fixed if you buy a car with 2014 July build date or later that is.

After 3 weeks and 800 miles neither of these issues exist. I do have to watch getting in and out of the car so that I don't bump my head and I'm only 5'6''. Since I am overweight I also struggle with the seat belt fastening, an easy fix with some serious dieting.

I'm seeing the same with responses to TrueDelta's car reliability survey--through the end of the third quarter no one had reported a repair to the new Genesis. This is a big change from the first generation.

We'll have an updated stat in February based on more cars. Additional participants always helpful.

I heard a few having radio station switching problems? I am a new 2015 Genesis owner, Fell in LOVE with it after driving it. But I am seeing a minor issue, We don't use sirus XM, we keep our station on FM, but when we stat the car & come to leave, the radio switchs to XM, then we have to go put radio back on our FM station, & we are NOT accidently hitting buttons on the steering wheel or anywhere else. Wonder whats going on here?

Count me as another VERY happy new owner. Took her in today for the first oil change (1534 to get the break in oil out). There is absolutely nothing about the vehicle that is not absolutely top drawer. Midnightsun hit the proverbial nail on the head. The "other guys" had best pay attention. There's a new sheriff in town!

This is a glitch that has just started after 1/1/2015. We need to keep the pressure on Hyundai to find a root cause. My bet is on software.

If you are waiting for a prefect car, why are you driving the car you have now?

Yes I HOPE more will chime in on this; I did notify the dealership about it, & the Lead Tech says he hasn't heard about this? Maybe he should join this forum.

Have you tried resetting the system per the manual? In the DIS Navigation System / Owner's Manual on page 23, it talks about how to reset the system. I don't have this issue and don't know if this would help but it is worth a shot.

Been signed up with Michael's service since my first Genesis, and I have to say his statement if it predicts a trend is kind of a big deal.

What V6 vibration? Mine does not "vibrate"?

Most likely, as was stated, he is referring to the flatspotting. Mine does it too but it quickly works itself out. Properly inflated tires help too.

As for the sunroof, mine doesn't rattle but it does squeak like crazy. I have tried putting lube on it but can't seem to find the right places. Anyone have luck with this? Drives me crazy to the point that I either vent the sunroof (noise is along the front) or close the shade and crank the stereo...

I was able to eliminate the noises in my roof just by lubing the weatherstripping surrounding the moveable panel and every piece of rubber or plastic it contacted. There's a pic in the album linked in my sig that points out the lube points. I hope that helps.

Good to know as a coming soon owner the good reliability of the new Genesis !!

200 miles into my new car and it is hard down. Leased my third consecutive Genesis last Saturday. This time a 2015 5.0 Ultimate "dealer demo" with 1,100 miles. The mileage concerned me, but the deal I received eased my concerns. Between Saturday and Thursday I put ~200 problem free miles on the car, at which time I dropped the car off at the dealership to have it detailed. My service rep informed me that when they started the car, they received multiple warning lights, the engine ran rough and the Tac was dead. They spent the next two days chasing error codes. So far they have received a total of 14 codes, some not found in the service manual. Their initial assumption was that there was a faulty ground some place. After checking and reattaching all the grounds the engine still runs rough and one error code remains, extended crank error. At this point they have ordered a replacement crank sensor which is expected to come in next week. The tech is unsure if this will resolve the issue but this is his best guess.

My reliability experience with my previous Genesis models has been fairly good. Only a couple of relatively minor issues. With this particular car, I’m not sure if we’re dealing with an isolated issue or something more serious. Based on feedback from other owners I remain optimistic that this is an outlier that will be resolved in short order. I’ll post again once this has been sorted out.

Folks ask how I like my 5.0 Ultimate Genesis and I have to say it's the most exciting car I've ever owned.
