  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

My 2015 Genesis Tech is having front sensor issues. It doesn't work most of the time but will commonly work in reverse. The odd time it sees a curb but does not see walls or cars. I took it to the dealer and they performed a walk around when in drive ( brakes on obviously lol) and it was intermittent .The Hyundai tech said that's odd keep an eye on it! I'm taking it in again when my back bumper clips are in ( back bumper clips failing now the bumper is agape on both left and right sides. part on back order). Has anyone had this sensor problem? Thanks

someone else experienced similar problems and found out the button was off. just make sure the "p" is illuminated

Which button is that? I have the Canadian tech is it different ?

That was me.

Look down at the left side of center console just behind the transmission select lever. Look for the button with the stylized "P" on it. With the transmission in park, push that button until the small blue light just to the right of the button illuminates. (Mine is a 2015 5.0 Ultimate. Don't know for sure how the Tech works. This is my experience only.)

This fixes the issue on US cars. Don't know about Canadian cars. Parking Assist will now default to the "on" mode until you turn it off. Note: even with the switch in the off position, it will work in reverse and even for a short time in drive after you shift out of reverse.

My dealer had the car for 17 days before returning it to me and telling me that the issue you are (and I was) experiencing is normal. And to make it even worse, the dealer told me that they got this nonsense from HMA and from a visiting Hyundai engineer. Boggles the mind!!

Good Luck.

I have the park assist button but shouldn't the sensors work without using the park assist option? I will try it out . Just tried it and it works now . Maybe I should read the manual lol.

The park assist switch needs to be turned on (lit) or the sensors will only work in reverse.

Press the Park Assit button one time and never have to mess with it again.

Yes read the manual.. if the park assist button is off then it will turn on in reverse and turn off automatically if you exceed 12mph forward (finished parking)

That's where I got in trouble too and had to be bailed out by the forum. I didn't remember that part of the manual and failed to go back and review.

It's just like Alwaysforward said, "Press the Park Assit button one time and never have to mess with it again."That is of course unless you accidently press it (like I apparently did while fumbling for another button) and turn it off. They you definitely have to press it again to turn it back on.

The key is pressing it "ONE TIME" then leaving it the hell alone. :)

Personally I think the parking assist button is poorly placed in my AWD Tech.
It's in line with both the driver and passenger heated and ventilated seat controls and the heated steering wheel button, all which get a lot of use.
For the parking assist to be useful it must be reliable, and I had the experience of a passenger accidentally disabling it, luckily I noticed and didn't hit the curb.
I would much prefer this button to the left of the steering wheel on the dash where the lane keep assist button is, maybe swap them, I see no reason to ever want to disable it.

I've had to disable it in the narrow confines of a fast food drive through pick up window or be driven nuts by the constant beeping- I actually wish it had a mute button that would work for one time and then reset for those situations where you need to turn it off for a moment, but might forget to turn it back on again...

My current vehicle has no button to turn of the front beepers. Every morning I get a second wake up call when I put my car into reverse in my garage, since it warns me of the wall in front of the car - very clearly. Every time I get to an ATM the damn thing beeps at me, and won't shut off until I move the gear selector to park. Drive through windows with poles on the side are a hoot too. This should be off by default, and only be enabled when needed, which in my case is much more frequently not the case ...

First world problems for sure ... :)

This is weird. I have a Canadian 2015 AWD Tech, and MUST turn the "P" button off every single day when I back out of the garage, as the front sensors cause the constant beeping. So, it's reverting to the "On" after a shutting off the engine.

As it should - too easy to forget to turn it on and then you hit something. Is it really that much of an issue to deal with a few beeps each morning versus hitting something later in the day when you forget to turn it on?

At least for me, it works - only improvement I'd like to see might be a mute function to kill the beep temporarily without actually deactivating the system.
