  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi everyone!

New to the forum. Picked up a 400 mile CPO 2015 White V8 (non-ultimate) two weeks ago at a great price. Thoroughly enjoying this car and reading the forum (have already picked up on so much valuable information here).

Here's what it looked like stock:

I got strangely lucky with new wheels. Without knowing that they would fit, a set of staggered rims from my previous car just happened to be almost identical in specs to the 5.0's stock 19's. So much so that I was able to swap the Continental tires off the stock wheels and throw them onto my old rims.

For anyone curious, the 5.0's stock rim specs are:

  • 19x8.5 offset +40 - 245/40/ZR19 (approx. 33 lbs)
  • 19x9.0 offset +49 - 275/35/ZR19 (approx. 35 lbs)
The specs on my old aftermarket rims are:

  • Volk Racing Rays
  • 19x8.0 offset +43 - 245/40/ZR19 (approx. 21 lbs)
  • 19x9.5 offset +45 - 275/35/ZR19 (approx. 22 lbs)
Here's a photo with the wheels and no tint:

I also installed 3m Crystalline 40% all around and Johnson IR80 on the front. Here's a couple pictures after the install (notice that in some lights it throws off a brown/orange/purple color):

I wasn't originally planning to be to heavy handed on the mods, but it seems the bug might have struck. Up next I'm considering those rigid collars (ride is so bouncy). I'm also considering the Ark GT-F springs (based on Dareck and others' reviews), but I'm not sure as I don't want to compromise the ride or be worried about scraping. What do you guys think of the wheel gap though? It's identical to stock..

Thanks for the input!

1st. off.......congrats on your new ride!

2nd...pictures aren't visible. Upload them to http://imgur.com/ and get links.

3rd..... with GT-F springs you won't be scrapping, trust me. The drop is only ~.5inch on front and ~.75inch rear. You'll notice the difference, but the ride quality won't be compromised.

Thanks dareck! I think I fixed the photos. Love what you did with your ride btw.

Yeah, pictures are working now.

I'd say, get lowering springs and you'll see how the look of the car changes....it isn't very expensive, around $600.00 parts, labor and alignment

i dont see a post?

it is too early in the day for a thread to be hurting my head this much. :)

is it true that lowering a car will put more stress on the suspension?

Phantom OP!

Sorry folks. This was my original post that somehow disappeared. I tried reposting it below but it never showed up. I'll just post photos in the sticky thread.

@GenY

Report this to Admin and hopefully, he'll fix it.
