  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I had my transmission flushed by the dealer at 60000 miles and 200 miles later the transmission slips and jerks so hard I thought I had been rear ended. I took it to the dealer the next morning and they had it for multiple days and claimed they couldn't find anything and were unable to replicate the transmission mishap. What troubles me is that since that first slip/jerk the car has had 4 other situations where it won't change gears. The RPMs also seem to be much higher as when I moderately accelerate between 20-35mph the car will jump up past 4200RPMs which seems high for such low speeds. I also have gone past 6k rpms twice when accelerating onto a highway from a stop when I know I have never gone above 5krpms before especially in comfort mode. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what could be wrong? Should I take it to a different dealer and pay another 150 for diagnostic?

Here's a picture of the service information.
The service manual says it takes 11.09qts when they only charged me for 10. Could it be something as simple as this or using the wrong atf?

NEVER have a transmission flushed. Only drain and refill. By flushing, you dislodge debris and possibly clog the transmission fluid channels or the solenoids. I'd take your car to a qualified transmission shop for evaluation.

There is always a chance that something goes wrong with a transmission flush. However, it might also be that they used the wrong transmission fluid. I would go back to find out if they used the transmission fluid that is recommended in the manual. I think you would have paid more if they had used the recommended fluid.

Agreed. That seems like a really good price for the correct fluid.
Also, fluid exchanges (seems like that's what they did), are not as bad as flushes.

I see the problem on the service ticket. The dealership service various cars so your transmission may have been partially filled with incorrect transmission fluid from another model serviced by the fluid exchange machine.

It is roll of the dice if a fluid exchange machine is properly flushed of old fluids before every use. Hell, it is a roll of the dice if the techs even use the correct fluid altogether with performing a flush.

It's stuff like this that make me wary of even changing the fluid - even though I'm due. Hopefully, I can get my Indie Mech to do just a drain & fill and not have an overzealous tech hook the flush machine on it out of habit...

Agreed. A drain and fill every 60k miles or so should be good enough to keep the transmission working for a long time. I would also change the filter at 100k or 120K miles for good measure.

Sadly, you have to replace the entire transmission pan. Poor planning on Hyundai's part.

It does make for an expensive transmission filter change. I bought a new pan for $140 online and is waiting until 100k miles to install it.

I was going to change my transmission filter at 80k miles hence why I bought the new transmission pan, but decided to just drain the transmission fluid at 76k miles and then again with the filter at 100k miles and then drain the fluid every 30k miles until 190k miles and change the filter/pan again.
