  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

The other day my key fob battery needed to be replaced, so changed it out and then the car wouldn't start. (Click, click, click...) I thought it was the key fob needing to be reprogrammed but after some research I found out that the battery needed to be replaced. The local dealership is about 20 miles away, so not convenient. So I went to AutoZone and picked up a DuraLast H9 amg with 1000 CCA for about $200. Could have went with a cheaper battery but I had noticed most of the complaints out there came from the people buying the cheaper ones under 900 CCA that cost about $140. You'll need a 10mm socket and the bolt at the base is about a 1/2 inch. 4 in all. Installation was a breeze. I did notice that the spare was flat so I was able to inflate to 60psi. After installing the battery the car started right up.

Saved quite a bit over dealer price. Good catch on the spare. Usually you don't find that until it is cold, raining, dark.

Did you lose any of your settings since you had no power until the new battery was connected?? Have read on some on other threads that some owners say they used a supplementary 12V source to keep settings powered up?? Others say no loss of settings...everything worked when new battery was installed... Would be interested in hearing your experience. I have a 2016 and am not far away from doing a replacement myself...Thanks

Sometime Back diconnected the battery to install lighted sill plates, mildly suprised when after reconnecting battery found no loss of radio presets or memory of the drivers seat.

From what I can tell, everything looks to be in good order as of right now. I don't use the radio so not sure about presets. (Phone via Bluetooth)

The venting hole was located on the other side of the new battery, so when the quarantine is over I'll reinstall with one that fits. (Extra 1-2ft needed)

Thanks for the info.. Will keep that in mind

I have just recently replaced mine with H9 950 CCA AGM from Autozone. I had to order it as none of the auto part stores keep these in stock. As far as I remember I paid around $180 vs $350 at the dealership.

What did you do for the venting tube?

I pulled the plastic adapter from old battery and plugged it into the new one and then connected the tube
