If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I'm korean and they officially announced 2019 model in korea (2020 here) today. You will soon be hearing it in english I think.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
Very interesting. So question...actually a few...

- If the screen is that much bigger...will they have an infotainment system control by a knob/pad/etc on the center console (like Audi, MB, BMW, etc) ? Or is it same controls but just bigger screen?
- The display behind the steering wheel (cockpit)...any changes to that like the Virtual Cockpit from Audi?
- Any other changes?

We already have the Smart Truck. If you have your key and you stand near the rear of the car for a few seconds...the trunk automatically opens.

^ that looks like the instrument panel, not the nav screen.

I like it. Add a larger nav screen and LED rear turn signal and they will make a lot of people happy.

yeah it's instrument panel, so it will be like virtual cockpit, but what they say is it's 3D panel (worlds first 3D panel according to them).
what i ment with smart trunk was that now you get a button to open it and close it (there were lot of complainments in korea about it).
others changes are that now they get AWD+ M-LSD which we already had, but korea didn't and updating on sofrwhere to make better fuel economy. and getting the 3.3T sport model wheels.

yeah LED rear turn signal would be nice but i think they are putting that in the facelift model, and will probably put ambient light there as well. I'll let you know if there are any more updates :)

Thank you.

Any mention of how you control the infotainment system? Now it is all touchscreen...with just a few buttons on the steering wheel and a few knobs/buttons on the center stack under the screen. What I am wondering if there is a dial or pad type interface in the horizontal part of the center stack...behind the gear shift selector.

I'll let you know when there are more updates. All i know is that we can't put the new instrument panel in our model ( different size). i assume they will get more buttons to control it?

Man, I'm glad I decided to wait. I'm hoping this also comes to the US 2020 model. I'll be ready on day 1.
Yeah...kinda sucks. I can’t wait a year. I guess I could lease a crappy car for a year. Wonder if that’s possible.

This what happens when you delay the US launch so much - The virtual cockpit dash might make some people who can wait do just that!

I can't ever recall a situation where the next model year (with nice, new features) was announced before the current model year car was even widely available in the US?

Well, if you're going to lease the G70, just think, after 3 years you'll be able to get something even better. I plan on buying so I would rather not get stuck with old stuff for however long I end up keeping it. The fact that you're leasing should lessen the sting some, I know it still sucks though. It's about like Kia adding the 360 camera after 1 year. I would not be happy if I had bought a 2018, for a lease, not so much.

Yeah, me either. I had heard rumors that there would be significant changes to the G70 next year because of sales but figured it wouldn't be THAT significant. That's a pretty big change.

Personal opinion here, not based on rumors” but I seriously doubt they will make significant changes in the US G70 after just one year. I don’t care what they (maybe) are doing in Korea.

Neither can I and it has not happened yer either. No guarantee that the Korea version will be sold here next year. There may be some changes, as that is normal, but there has been no official announcement yet. They may save them for future changes. Have to wait and see.

The point remains - we are seeing the Korean G70 2nd year car with a significant upgrade when most folks can't even buy the current model year in the USA. That's not a good story for potential buyers and another effect of their screwed up rollout!

And it appears it actually has happened - the Korean Genesis site already shows the new digital instrument panel:

And it appears on page 17 of the G70 brochure - you can stop being a Genesis apologist as they don't deserve it with the way they are running the USA business! It's a shame too as the cars are nice and appear a good value, but they need to get their act together if they want to be successful!

It happened in Korea. we don't know if it is going to happen here. Does it matter? It may to people on this forum, but the typical car buyer has no idea of models available in other countries for many brands. Nor do they care.

I'm not apologizing for them either, nor do I start rumors. You have evidence that the change is happening in Korea. You have no evidence it is going to happen in the US. If you do, please show it. Could happen, but we have no idea yet.

Again the point is that Korea is on year 2 with an upgraded digital dashboard before most can even see a G70 in person or buy one here!

I'm not starting rumors. I posted facts (with actual Genesis Korea materials). Given that the competition already has digital dashboards, do you really not think it's pretty likely it's coming here in year 2 as an option like it did in Korea?

And, last I checked, we are on a forum where many would care - we're not talking about the typical car buyer here!

Fact in Korea, supposition in the US. Sure, people here would like to discuss it, but it is not fact yet. If not next year, probably 2021.

Oh well. I'm not buying one until it comes here. I wouldn't be surprised if we got it here next year. Happened in their second year model, might as well be in ours. I guess only time will tell. They're not going to be doing themselves any favors by waiting to bring it, and they'll be making it anyway. This will be my second vehicle so I can wait for a great deal of time and if they don't bring it quick enough, I'll just buy a Mercedes AMG E63S. I'm not going to lose any sleep either way.
