  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

2020 model for G70 In korea comes with 12.3 inch 3D LCD screen and smart trunk

Fact in Korea, supposition in the US. Sure, people here would like to discuss it, but it is not fact yet. If not next year, probably 2021.
I never said it was a fact here (but I'd bet it will come next year) - I merely stated that new features announced in the Korean model before the car is really available to most in the USA is unprecedented in my experience (as I originally stated and you questioned - hence my proof it had already happened).

I'm with you. This is crazy.

I agree with you guys it is very odd to see updates to a car before it is even for sale in the US. Sure we may be used to home countries of manufacturers getting the latest features and models slightly ahead of time, but usually it isn't this extreme.

And for the comment that just because it is going to Korean doesn't mean it is coming here... the 2019 G70 in Canada and the US is 99.5% the identical vehicle that is sold in Korea. I am sure that next year that will continue to be the case...

As for the picture @Beefer posted above and @joneillnj posted, does it look like a fancy new screen with the identical g-force and boost displays in the middle? I do find it odd as they look dated in the center of the current dash imo but look even more dated with the new display. (on second look the g-force one looks different, but the other one looks almost identical)

Either way, for me personally, I am still happy with my purchase and I am happy to see them making continuous changes as it makes me excited for a potential upgrade in a few years. Because if in 3-4 years the car was identical to what it is now, I would be looking elsewhere. I like continuous updates. (y)

Virtual Cockpit is cool but the HUD has me spoiled so I rarely ever look at the instrument panel. (y)

I prefer analog gauges.

This what happens when you delay the US launch so much - The virtual cockpit dash might make some people who can wait do just that!

I can't ever recall a situation where the next model year (with nice, new features) was announced before the current model year car was even widely available in the US?

Typically, the Korean market is 5-6 months ahead of the US, but w/ the delay, it has become almost a full year.

Yeah, me either. I had heard rumors that there would be significant changes to the G70 next year because of sales but figured it wouldn't be THAT significant. That's a pretty big change.

Personal opinion here, not based on rumors” but I seriously doubt they will make significant changes in the US G70 after just one year. I don’t care what they (maybe) are doing in Korea.

While Hyundai (and by extension, Genesis) has been known to make running changes, usually save the larger things for the MCE.

But supposedly, things were pushed up in order to react to the G20 3er (who knows how much truth there is to that?).

And I suppose it's not just the G20, w/ the new K900 having its own digital cluster (Genesis can't be outdone by Kia!).

Oh well. I'm not buying one until it comes here. I wouldn't be surprised if we got it here next year. Happened in their second year model, might as well be in ours. I guess only time will tell. They're not going to be doing themselves any favors by waiting to bring it, and they'll be making it anyway. This will be my second vehicle so I can wait for a great deal of time and if they don't bring it quick enough, I'll just buy a Mercedes AMG E63S. I'm not going to lose any sleep either way.
That small tablet design in the G70 is quite cheesey for a luxury brand. That's what you expect to see in an Elantra.

That reason enough for you to not buy one. Go get an S4 or something similar.

LOL...it's actually bigger than the S4. G70 is 8" and the S4 is 7" (pretty sure of that). So not sure what he meant.
12" display in my Lexus with no tablet look.

I thought I would hate the tablet look of the G70 but I actually prefer it after putting over 15,000 km on G70s. It lowers the dashboard line and gives you better visibility. Also, the tablet is nicely integrated into the dashboard rather than having a "floating" look that makes you prone to incorrect inputs.

I was thinking the exact same thing ... I mean I know where the speedometer is, but I could probably count on one hand how often I look at it.

Good for you. Maybe you should go out to your garage and admire it for a while instead of adding absolutely nothing to the conversation.

I thought forums were here to share info - you obviously woke up on the wrong side of the bed. Feel free to ignore my posts if they add nothing for you chief.

Well, I like the Virtual Cockpit in my Audi so by the time I up/down-grade to the G70 in 2020, they'll be ready for me lol.
