If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I'm correctly locked out of my G90, the battery die and I cannot find the mechanical key to open the door. Where can I get a replacement. The dealership that I purchased the car from in Virginia Beach , VA has no idea.

If u have your key fob it is in there Go on line and look it up

It appears that the mechanical keys for 2023 are not in the smart key. They are provided separately. The OP's are probably still in the glove box.

Didn’t know that
I have a 2017
Sorry about that

My new 2023 GV70 came with one mechanical key, separate from the main keys. I’m afraid of opening the key to check because the instructions say to use a cloth when prying it open. I don’t want to scratch the fob just days after I got the car!!

Did you have any luck opening your g90? we are having the same issue here in south Fla.

I have A Genesis 2023 G90
Been stranded a week car is in ER hospital parking lot both key fobs don’t work the emergency mechanical key won’t work the remote phone app won’t work
The dealer tried to remote unlock it, won’t open .
Told the battery is dead but NO ONE knows how to get into the vehicle . So can’t get in car for 5 days
This is craziest thing I’ve ever heard of . I can’t trust the vehicle now, I love it but want to return it to dealer under lemon law

The dealers have no idea. I am locked out of my G90 2023 for 5 days car is sitting in parking lot at hospital. Both key fobs don’t work, mechanical emergency key won’t work, phone app won’t work, Genesis corporate tried to remotely unlock no success, they say it is battery. But no one knows how to get into the vehicle, thus is insane!
I am filing under the Florida Lemon Law how can you ever trust this vehicle again!
4000 miles on it and locked out of a 100,000 dollar vehicle and no one at Genesis knows what to do!!

I know what I would do if I was the dealer. Not a cheap solution but would work. Break a window, open the hood, jump the battery at the terminals then they can open the trunk. I would think the dealer could come up with a better solution though.

I find it hard that Genesis could not have provided another mechanical key.

They could have very carefully broken a side window to gain entrance and replaced the window with OEM all under warranty. The key and window could have been expedited.

Once they get in the car they can gain access to the trunk release by reaching to the left of the rear trunk pass through and just pulling the emergency release.

Here again it is a matter of calling into Genesis until you get a customer service representative who is willing to go the extra mile to get things done.

We have considered that. They took the front wheel panel off opened the hood with a latch release or something jumped the battery but apparently there is another battery in trunk
Can’t get trunk open. And the jumping of battery under hood did nothing. You still couldn’t start the car or open the doors.
I’m very stressed. Then are going to tow to dealer today I hope. But how can this be? How can a person own a vehicle like this?

If they can not go through that rear pass through door and pull the emergency release and open the trunk something is terribly wrong. Did anyone try and go through that pass through door to access the emergency release?
You can try that your self. Shine a light in the trunk and you will be able to see the emergency release. Looking in to the trunk it should be just to the left of the pass through opening.
When the car gets to the dealership make certain that you get a loaner. I would also go to the General Manager and let he or she know if they can’t not tell you how all this came about nor assure you it will not happen again you would like the car replaced or repurchased.

You make good point. I have no idea how difficult it would be. OTOH, he said the key did not work. Could be many reasons, but, it is a good idea to try your key to be sure it does work. Never needed mine, ---yet. Will try it later.

They have gained access to get into the car, but now he is saying they can’t get the trunk open to access the battery in the trunk.
I just don’t understand why the emergency trunk release which can be accessed by going through the rear pass through does not work. If that does not work then that car might have some serious issues.

Maybe they don't have anyone with an arm long enough to reach it. I can lend them a broomstick. I'll even put a hook on it.
Sounds strange to me at this point. I understand your concern.

It's in the manual - just tried it and it worked
press on the driver's side front of the door handle, it will skew the rear part of the handle out. pull on it and the handle will come out - need to hold it.
on hte rear side need to remove the bottom part - it will open the key hole. Now you can unlock the door with a mech key.

This is how to get to the trunk from the vehicle w/o power

I see what the OP is saying now, they got the hood up but still couldn’t get enough charge on the battery to get the remotes to unlock the door so they still need to get a door open to gain access to the trunk.
It looks like if they can’t get mechanical key to work they are going to have to break out a side window to get inside the car😱

If they do break that glass I would demand that it be replaced with OEM Glass.
