Odd, you should with the 2024 GV60. The update that brought wireless AA/CarPlay also allows maps in the gauge cluster and directions in the HUD from the phone’s primary navigation app.In mine, it does not show any mapping info
You can still use carplay wirelessly. Simply plug your phone in the non data usb port when you need to charge it.
My iphone also overheats a lot when using the wireless charger pad.
Useless charger indeed. Started a 185-mile drive home yesterday with my iphone 14 at 74%. Phone oveheated so badly it kept cycling charging off and on. Phone was down to 43% at the end of the trip.
I also have this, though with the smaller Scosche Qi2 charger, and it works great for long drives with wireless CarPlay. No overheating and the phone stays charged. It’s great that the USB-C charging port (not the data port) provides enough for full speed Qi2. No need for the 12v adapter.Time for me to make my suggestion again to get a Proclip and a Qi2 charger! Works great for me! No overheating, easy to attach the phone, plus you can make use of your phone’s screen for another app if desired.
Hey everyone. I just installed a ProClip mount in the GV60, and although I know the ProClip has been mentioned before in this forum, hopefully some pics will help you visualize better. I also installed an ESR Qi-2 charger with MagSafe attachment and routed the power cable, hiding it as best I could, before connecting to the USB-C below the dash.
Why do all this since the GV60 has a charging pad and decent screens, especially with wireless CarPlay/AA?? First, the car's charging pad is only Qi (original spec) rated, and it's very slow to charge, produces a lot of heat, and often can't...

See the pics in the post! I can’t describe it any betterGreat suggestions! Where do you gentleman have the phone positioned in the car, if I may ask?

I dont get any google maps or waze projections on the dash…Right, but my point is if you are plugging in anyway, it reduces the utility of having AA/CP wireless. The projection onto the driver display is very nice and I haven't tested if that happens when the connection is wired. In theory I don't see any reason for it not to work.
.
That is surprising. I don't know why that would be a wireless only feature, but that would be enough for me to want to use wireless.I dont get any google maps or waze projections on the dash…
Are you using the 2nd toggle from the left on the steering wheel to toggle through your options? One is the GV60 image on a road, one is the widget selection, and the other is the map...I dont get any google maps or waze projections on the dash…
For what it's worth, here's customer support's response to my complaint about the charger:
"
Thank you for contacting Genesis Customer Care Center.
We are sorry to learn of your concerns with the wireless charger not working correctly with you iPhone 14. We know this is not the answer you were hoping for, All Apple iPhones starting with the iPhone 12 use a different charging method and are not supported by the in-vehicle wireless charging system as the newer iPhones no longer use Qi technology. iPhone models 12 and newer will not charge using the in-vehicle wireless charging pad. The indicator light may blink on and off while generating heat, this is due to the phone being present on the pad and attempting to partially charge. "
I think my solution will be to pull out the rubber mat, and stick a thin magsafe puck in its place.
I think the genesis tech doesn’t have a clue on what he/she is sayingI'm stunned by how casually Genesis Support is saying that a phone released in 2020 that is already 4 generations old (iphone 12) is incompatible with the GV60 charger. The GV60 was introduced in 2021 as a 2022 model so Genesis should have known that their charger was already out of date with most wireless phones being sold. Given how much tech is in the vehicle, including future forward tech like software OTAs, V2L, and 800v architecture, it is really disappointing.
This is where we really need some 3rd party support to step in and design a replacement charging setup. The Rivian R1 vehicles, also released around the same time, have a bad charging design and there have been a number of 3rd party solutions.
I think you are correct. I will try (if I remember) to charge my IPhone 14 Pro in the slot and see if it charges while I am driving.I think the genesis tech doesn’t have a clue on what he/she is saying
I have an iphone 13 and it charges, albeit overheating a lot .I think you are correct. I will try (if I remember) to charge my IPhone 14 Pro in the slot and see if it charges while I am driving.
Yes...it charged although it does get hot. Note that you can turn the charger off in the info system so you can just use it as a storage slot if you prefer.I think you are correct. I will try (if I remember) to charge my IPhone 14 Pro in the slot and see if it charges while I am driving.
Ya. The iPhone 12 and newer support BOTH Qi and Qi2. The 11 is Qi, only.I think the genesis tech doesn’t have a clue on what he/she is saying
Yes, the map in the cluster display and HUD works when the connection is wired.I haven't tested if that happens when the connection is wired.
They don't. The charging slot works with my iPhone 14. It also works with my wife's iPhone 11, and with an iPhone 16.I think the genesis tech doesn’t have a clue on what he/she is saying
It isn't.should have known that their charger was already out of date with most wireless phones being sold
