Well, first off, I was nervous about buying this car, and already my fears are coming true. And of course the problem occurred on my first road trip where I was headed to my brothers and in the boonies in PA when my gas gauge all the sudden went to E with the light blinking, and than my CEL came on.
Was pretty sure I had at least 1/2 tank so I didn't know what happened. I was only 10 mins from my destination but figured I'd better be sure. Quick checked the closest gas station which was 15 minutes away. Drove there and it only took 6 gallons to fill up, so at least I knew I actually still had gas.
Drove back home the next day which was 3 hours of driving with the gas light blinking and CEL light on. Immediately scheduled service at the Genesis dealer I bought if from and dropped it off the next day.
So they looked at it and said it was the gas sending unit and they ordered it and it should be here in 5 days. FFWD almost 2 weeks later they finally got the part installed and the problem persists. Now they are saying they think it's the driver side? fuel pump but they are back ordered so they are going to try to remove one from one of their new cars on the lot.
Mind you I have not had a loaner all this time, so I told them I am going to finally need a loaner. She said ok and called back and offered me a Hyundai Tucson. I said I would have expected another Genesis. She thought I requested the Tucson, I said no that wasn't me. SO now I have to call tomorrow to see what they have available to loan me.
Back to the problem I don't see how it would be the fuel pump because the car still drove fine 300 miles after the problem happened. She said the next step would be the whole gauge cluster could be the problem.
It seems whatever code the car is giving out is not telling them what the problem is? Not sure how that can be. But I'm very disappointed already in Genesis. How does this happen to an almost brand new car?? I've read so many horror stories online for Genesis, but I was like Hyundai and Kia have been around a long time now and you see them everywhere. This is the luxury division so they can't be that bad.
I fear that I made a big mistake buying this car, and already looking into Lemon Law. If it's there 30 days I will pursue that.
I really like the car, it's very smooth, fast, beautiful interior, luxurious with tons of features, nice looking, unique....But I need something I can count on.
For the record it's a fully loaded 2023 G70 3.3T AWD Prestige. Just purchased it a couple months ago with 590 miles on it as a CPO from a local Genesis dealer. (Genesis of the South Shore here on Long Island, NY)
