If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. I wanted to reach out to the other 3.8 owners and ask what intake options does the Genesis Sedan owners have. In the past I have used AEM Cold Air Inatakes with very good gains, I have also used K&N and Air Raid Drop-in Filters.

Nothing pre-made for the 2012-13 V6. Supposedly the AEM CAI for the coupe fits the 2009-2011 V6 sedan, but I can't confirm. I went the custom route and am happy. Take a look at my post below yours. I've gone through several iterations and ended up with something that looks and sounds good. Haven't dyno'd yet.

Thank you for the reply, since I have a 2010 I'm looking around. I think that the AEM 21-688C is applicable to the Sedan, I'll call AEM to confirm.

Cool. Let me know how it fits.

I called AEM and was told "NO DICE BUD" on their AEM 21-688C for the Sedan hence the "C" stands for Coupe. Well I'll keep looking.

That's odd. I just went to their website and saw that their is nothing listed for the 2010 sedan, but two options for the 2011 sedan (which is the EXACT same as the 2010).

The two models list for 2011 are 21-688C, as you mention, and 21-688P. These models are only differentiated by color, so C (carbon/gunmetal) and P ("polished") are color designations, not an abbreviation for the vehicle style they fit.

Sounds like your AEM rep was a bit full of sh*t, or at least uninformed about his products. I wish someone had the AEM so we could get a definitive answer.

Well I just called and talked to someone else and yes they do offer their CAI for the 2011 and 2012 Genesis Sedan. Now since I have a 2010 AEM can not confirm that it will work or fit as they have not test fitted a 2009-2010 only the 2011-2012.

I was asked if I was local to them so they could look into testing on a 2009-2010, but since I'm not well I'm out of luck.

NOW I'm sure that we have member here that is local and close to AEM, and if this member would be willing to let AEM do their magic and test on a 2010 they in turn could offer their CAI for the 2010 an also the 2009.

ANYONE???

I'll create a new thread in the performance section asking with other member to help us out.

I'm still dubious of AEM's claim that the same model intake will fit the 2009-12 coupe and the 11-12 sedan but not the '10 sedan for several reasons.

1) Engine wise the 09-11 v6 sedans are identical. They all use a MAF on the intake. Ergo what fits an 11 should fit a 10.
2) The 12 sedan switched to GDI and has a completely different intake design. It doesn't use a maf in the intake but rather a combo IAT sensor with a different connector than the maf.
3) Point 2 leads me to believe that this intake would not fit a 12 because the AEM unit is designed for the maf connector not an iAT.

tl;dr = I think the model they have would fit your 10 if it in fact fits an 11.

I concur wholeheartedly!! but with my personal experience with aftermarket manufactures if a particular application is not on their list and you take it on your own to use a said product on a application that is not sported then "its on you" and you don't have a leg to stand on. Now that said, you correct 100% and your reasoning is sound as I know this as fact as well. But we need to have them test and say "it supports a 2009, 2010" to have some type of backup.

Scuttlebutt says the CAI on the coupes is as good or better than any aftermarket snake oil purchase, as many modders have reluctantly found out. It might have come up elsewhere on the forum, but if there is one, you could remove the carbon filter in the airbox and that will yield decent power for free. On mine, and with ethanol-free V-Power, I've easily gained 20hp and even more torque/low-end grunt and crisp throttle response. The induction area of the front clip will be different, but perhaps the Coupe's intake will otherwise fit the Sedan...but I think the computer tuning will be different as well...

Yeah, that might be the case with the coupe, but the sedan's (at least the 12) intake tract is incredibly restricted for the sake quietness. Half of the system sucks air from under the hood too. I'm building a better heat shield for my homemade system and seriously doubt the AEM is compatible with my vehicle as they try to say on the website.

So, in looking at the AEM site, they do list the intake for my 2012 3.8L Genny; it also says 13 HP gain at 5800 rpm. When would I be running my engine at 5800 rpm? LOL. Seriously, what kind of normal HP gain could I expect under normal use? $398 on their website but AEM sells it on Amazon.com for $303 (prime) overnight for $4 more.

For the most part intakes will only increase the HP in the high RPM where the engine is trying to pull as much air as possible and the intake is restricting it.

A lot of times you will loose some low end TQ with an intake...

Maybe consider this mod more for pleasure of sound vs. actual function. I'm considering buying one for my wife's boosted Optima. That car could use a little bit of induction noise, plus the wastegate from the turbo would be louder:)

OK then anyone live close to AEM or at least in the vicinity so this can get going.

Read above - that's a misprint. It will not fit the gdi 3.8. If it truly did then the 13 sedan would have it as an option too, which is does not. The dead giveaway is the MAF connection on the Aem, the 12-13 don't have a MAF......

SO even at normal highway speeds of 80 mph, you would not necessarily see any improved fuel economy?

oh, sorry, I did not see the response (above) before I posted.

I don't think it would cost much to build one. Maybe I can fab one up after my supra project.

Yeah, let me know how that turns out if you build an aluminum or steel CAI or SRI. My metal fabrication skills are nil which is why I opted for the PVC. I'd willingly compensate you for your time and materials if you can make a quality product.

Yea I'll check it out this weekend, we are fabbing 5in stainless downpipe and aluminum intercooler pipes so a CAI or SRI shouldnt be an issue.
