If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

ok so im trying to replace my HID bulbs with an upgrade & i see that the HID bulb has a bracket surrounding it with screws on both side securing the bulb in with the built in ignighter , so i take it the headlight housing unti has to be removed so that u can get to those tiny screws, so my question is does anyone know the removal process for the headlight housing units...?

i tried looking on that site & couldnt find it

i found it just now thanks

Is that website free, or is there a charge to register?

from 4500k to about 6000 or 8000k for a more blueish color

I wouldn't consider that an upgrade as the light output is going to be less. I would stay away from 8000k for sure

Having worked in the photo industry (Kodak) for many years, one thing I learned is that the human eye is least sensitive to Blue light. Blue is the worse thing you can do for headlights, as far as being able to see.

Ever wonder why they sell "Night Driving Glasses in Yellow". (To make you see better at night). Same reason that "Fog Lights" are yellow, when sold as an accessory. Same reason that until Europe unified eight years ago, headlights in France were yellow. Same reason that "BlueBlocker" Sunglasses are sold, (which I have been using for 20 years). All to filter out the blue light.

GREAT POST! I was thinking about doing it myself. With the yellow fog bulbs the HID lights almost seem yellow from a distance. A 6000k output should be perfect! let me know how it goes!

change out the fog lights at the same time so they'll be the same color!

then you can tell me how its done b/c i'm dying to replace those.

the higher color temperature HID bulbs may be a little less light, and that wouldn't be cool, but i agree the look is more attractive. i want more light too, though! i've always felt that the HIDs weren't bright enough, or that their light was so spread out it didn't seem as bright. Are there different wattage HIDs?

less yes but we are talking inches not feet

Its not really measured in distance but more so in lumens. The light may travel the same distance but it wont be as bright. The difference between 4300k and 6000k is minimal and the 6000k is a more pleasing blue color. But I would definately stay away from 8000k as that will dramatically cut down on the brightness of the headlights.

I think 5000k is perfect combo of brightness with touch of blue hue; same found in the BMW, MB and such. But that's just me.

Yes, I would say between 5000 and 6000. 8000 and above has "RICE" written all over it. HA!

Here we go...now all I need is the bulb model number to purchase.

No OEM color is above 4300k for d2s or 4500k for d4s. The blue/purple is from the projector cutoffs that created the color

 You are correct....but....if you are to change the bulb to a higher K it will hit the cutoff's differently therefore giving off a different color. Who knows, we can change the bulbs to 5000k and they may look neon GREEN??? HA!:D Its worth a try, bulbs get cheaper everyday!
