  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

5.0 engine ticking sound at idle??? w/ video

Anyone know how much an engine replacement costs w/out warranty? Have a 2012 5.0 and it's has a rod knocking like noise coming but it seems to be coming from the drivers side cylinder head. Car has 67,000 miles and I purchased it from a private seller and am assuming powertrain warranty is not transferable? Just trying to prepare for the worst.

:sorry:

I already answered this in detail (with link to a Hyundai Parts website) in another thread you started. It very poor Internet etiquette to keep posting about this in different threads. So far, you have created two threads on this subject, and posted about it in other existing threads. Your lack of proper Internet etiquette is threat to civilization.

If you have direct injection, that is a normal sound. My Lexus vehicles and my truck have direct injection and it is easily heard at idle with music level at low. If you step out of the vehicle with the engine running, it is really noticeable. It is normal for direct injection.

The direct injection sound is very quiet on my Genesis. My previous GTI and Taurus SHO both had very loud DI.

That last video sounded like a spun connecting rod bearing but one half the frequency. It was painful to listen.
