I can hear a faint whine coming somewhere under the hood. During a cold start it cannot be heard but after a min of driving it is noticeable from 1k to 2k rpms. Above 2k rpms the engine noise drones it out or it goes away, I can’t tell. With the hood open at idle it’s barely noticeable. It did not pickup on any video I took. I took it to my go to mechanic shop and they ruled out belt/accessories, transmission, climate system, stored codes, rear end, or a vacuum leak. They can hear it more while sitting in the car than outside. They have not worked on many Hyundai 5.0s and said if I am really worried about it then take it to the dealer. The tech said he thinks it’s normal but don’t quote him. They didn’t charge me for the visit and they tried to diagnose for 2 hours. Well, the dealer can’t see the vehicle till late April since a regular Hyundai dealer won’t touch it, has to be Genesis. So a couple of questions. Does anybody else have this and also is this vehicle picky about the oil filters it needs? I have heard oil filters can cause a whine sound. I kept the dealer appointment since I need the transmission fluid exchanged. Any help would be appreciated.
