  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Suspension tuning mostly I believe. The Rspec had a reputation for having a stiffer suspension.

Suspension tuning as mentioned and the rest is just cosmetic. Interior trim and colour. Dark chrome headlights etc.

Edit: and I'm not sure if the standard 5.0 has the big brakes the R-Spec has or not. Maybe all the V-8s have them. Not too sure

the ride is a major deference Rspec is really stiff.

I have a 5.0 Non R-Spec... It has the complete Suspension the R-spec has including the Sachs system. Same bushings, springs and bars. Some say that 5.0 got the 4.6 suspension tune..not so.. 5.0 has different wheels from R. 18" with Michelin that are not gum ball shoes. It is smoother because the 18" wheels are much lighter and the tires are suited better for ride with slightly higher profile.. I have 19" R-spec wheels too, and can verify the weight difference, impact on ride, mileage and handling with gum ball tires.

The interior has leather dash and door trim where wood goes in V6 and possible 4.6 V8 (not sure about that). It does have the partial wood steering wheel, wood trim on console. Trim and mats are the same except for special R-spec notations and embroidery. 5.0 lights are not smoked covers. Engine, drive train, CPU are the same. Options and standard features are the same. It is like the R-Spec loaded with every option not always mud flaps.

I would try to drive both types of vehicles before deciding if possible.

I did and the got a new 2012 5.0 sedan. I found the ride in the R Spec a bit harsh for any longer highway trips.

The Rspec suspension has different parts than the non-Rspec 5.0.

MFProblem, see this post (about the 10th one down if you search for "rspec suspension"):

Thanks. I went through all this two years ago. Went to dealer. They looked up all the parts. What this thread refers to is the 4.6.. The 5.0 reference is wrong. Except that both the R-Spec and 5.0 2012 did get the rear spring change. Anyway, the parts all lined up except for the wheels and tires.

Interesting to me. It sound like the major difference is then in the 18" wheels on the sedan vs the 19" wheels on the RSpec resulting in less sidewall tire flexibility making the ride difference.

I do love my white 2012 5.0 sedan and have had absolutely 0 problems with it. Now at 7,500 miles. Not much driving, but I love every minute I spend in the car.

Yep.... And I can attest that with my 19"s on it rides stiffer. Not rough.. The wheels do not seem to react as fast to washboard roads, and you feel more of the road and bumps.. Hopes and jars a bit over that surface only on the 19"s. The slower response I bet is from more Un-sprung weight and some harmonic differences with the shorter side walls of the 19"s. To me, not a big deal. The difference is subtle.

Glad you are very happy. Amazing vehicles.
