If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

5.0 Ultimate too advanced to DYNO!?! Smoking tire, w/video

I had the chance to DYNO my 5.0 Ultimate at a friends auto performance tuning shop over the weekend. Unfortunately, the Genesis is SO advanced we could not get it to dyno. I was hoping for 340HP at the wheels. Here is the setup and results.

Car was setup onto dyno with all necessary straps. Shop only had ability to dyno rear/front wheel vehicles. NO four wheel drive setup. TRACTION control was DISABLED. Drive mode was in SPORT and set to manual S-Drive (pedal shifters). At first the car started to rev/accelerate correctly the suddenly I got smoking tires. It seems that the CPU engaged the rear brakes. AUTO HOLD light was automatically engaged also. I'm not sure if the FULL brake hold was engaged but I had to drive vehicle around the block for CPU to reset. Possibly due to front wheels not moving.

***As with many modern cars. Traction control is actually not 100% disabled. It will have some limited drive assist. As per DOT (Department of Transportation)...all new vehicles cannot have 100% traction control/VSC disabled. Exemptions are....vehicles that have track mode, sport plus or similar. Only cars such as Porsches, Corvettes, high performance vehicles, etc. The shop has encountered this limitation on many Mustang Gt's and others.

As the story ends. I was not able to dyno the Genesis. Maybe I'll try again if the shop gets a four wheel drive dyno.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
is your car AWD? if so its not a wonder it didn't work. AWD on a RWD dyno wont work. your friend should have known that wouldn't work.

If the car is AWD there is absolutely no point in putting it on a 2WD dyno.

I have the 5.0. This model ONLY comes in RWD!!!! Thus doing the dyno should not have been a problem.

It seems that even with traction control DISABLED. With the front wheels not moving on the dyno it causes the Genesis CPU to engage the brakes. As if having LIMITED traction control ON. * ***Please review my original post****

In the US, perhaps. In Canada it is only available as AWD. As you don't have a location in your profile, there was no way of knowing which you had.

Yes, plus the mention of a non AWD dyno further confuses it as 2WD is generally assumed.

*EDIT* Looks like the OP edited his post to remove references to AWD.

I won't be surprised if the workaround isn't so simple on 2015+ but on the 2009-2014 cars we can disable traction completely by using a relay to simulate pulling the fuse.

Thanks everyone for all the replies. Sorry for the confusing information I gave you. I will look into removing the fuse or relay and try dyno again. Anyone know which fuse to pull? How to use relay?

Are you referring to Auto Emergency Braking? Did the system detect an impending crash into the shop wall and apply brakes, or am I misreading that?

I can dyno 2015 in Oxnard on an AWD dyno - I will show results Monday night
