  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

60k mile ownership experience

I have both the 4.6 and R-Spec, in both cases I found the ESC intrusion was significantly reduced by installing the Uniq Collar mod.

I'd have to agree with this. I drive one road that there's a stop, with a right-turn to climbing a hill. Before the collars, making this turn usually resulted in the right rear tire lifting, and the ESC kicking in rather instrusively. After the collars, the RR stays planted much better, and the ESC only flickers on momentarily, a big change from before.

I too have found it less likely to hit the brakes and throw me forward if the esc comes on it just flickers and keeps the car from spinning out

2012 3.8 loaded.... 70K
One front parking sensor replaced. Original tires. Car is magnificent ! ( synthetic oil, every 7000 k ). And the car is very good on two REAR snow tires.

Keeps the car from spinning out? Damn! How fast are you taking that corner, anyhow?? ;-)

it varies, I am talking about a standing right turn onto a very busy street/express way, you have to jump in quick or wait a long time for the light to change.:D

Just hit 34k miles

- Engine rebuilt due to oil consumption @ 5k
- Valve spring broke (forget what cylinder, but unrelated to previous engine problems) @ 6k
- Interior lights stopped working at 6k
- Arm rest lid has play @ 10k but Hyundai will not replace
- Seat base replaced due to play @ ~15k
- Media center control button got stuck down @ 17k
- Stereo froze @ 22k
- Seat adjusted due to leather squeaks @ ~25k
- Seat has play again @ 25k but they won't replace or fix the base again
- Front parking sensor failed @ 28k
- Leather squeaks @ 30k and they will be replacing it soon
- Cannot make selections on the media center randomly for a few hours or days at a time, but haven't been able to get the dealership to catch it acting up
- Burned ~6 qts of oil in the last 5k miles between oil changes. Engine is going to need to come out again.
- Driver's seat heater takes over twice as long as the passenger seat heater to get warm.

I know I'm forgetting 1 or 2 other things.

Damn, thats alot of issues.

I put 60k miles on a 2010 4.6L with tech. Had some of the same issues here - seat and steering wheel memory; gremlins in the NAV/stereo; lousy OEM Bridgestone tires; transmission confuses itself. But it was a pleasant enough ownership experience that I traded it in for a 2012 3.8L with tech and I now have 60k miles on this one. Less issues with this one. The Michelin OEM tires lasted 55k miles. Still a few gremlins in the NAV and the 8 speed transmission is worse in terms of getting lost on where it is in the speeds - often doesn't drop down correctly and is in the wrong gear on a rolling start. Better mileage and handling on the 2012 and I don't feel like I've lost much speed. I've tracked this one and was pleasantly surprised at how it handled.

As a two time Genesis owner with 120k total miles I'd buy another.

Love mine too. 2011 3.8 with 72k miles. I haven't seen a warning light yet. Last week my air stopped blowing cold. I have an extended warranty that will cover all the major a/c components so I just dropped it off at the dealer. I've replaced the battery and taken it in for the brake light circuit recall previously and the dealer told me I didn't need anything. Normally, they highly recommend several items to you, but not so far. I bought mine with 28k miles on it so perhaps the previous owner sorted out all the issues.

Just a few hundred miles over 60k now, nothing wrong with the car, though the a/c always seems to not work as well when idling. before the 60k miles I took it in to have it checked they completely evacuated and recharged the system, they said it seemed overcharged.

It still is the same way. get moving, especially if you get the engine rpms over 2k and it gets very cold

Mine does this too. But, when I crank the air down to below 66 or so, it automatically switches to recirculate and the car cools pretty good even in idle. We have had several days over 100 degrees and humid and I was worried something might be wrong but it works fine. If yours still acts up, it might be a low or high pressure switch in the cooling system...at least that is what it was on my last vehicle (Tahoe)

I noticed the same thing with the A/C in my car also. The performance out of the A/C is drastic between moving and not moving. My family Hyundai tech said they get a lot of complaints about it. It is due to Hyundai using a single 2-speed fan for both cooling and A/C. Simply, 1 fan moves less air than 2 fans. It does suck when it is 107 outside and sitting in traffic.

ya makes perfect sense, and yes if I put on recirc or turn the temp all the way down it also does help
