  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Has anyone done the 60k mile service? Local dealer is quoting me $799, wondering if it will be worth it. In case it makes a difference am running a 2015 5.0

Check the manual. I don't see $800 worth of work needed. Dealers will sell you all sorts of service even if not required by the manufacturer. Aside from the usual oil change, most of the items say "inspect". You may want to check the serpentine belt as it is nearing the end.
You can get that done at your local independent shop too. That is more in the 120 to 150 range if replaced.

Amen to this!!

You should be able to see all the items in the $799 service and knock off some of the things.

The engine cleaning by adding fuel additives / changing both vipers / changing both air filters / engine oil change and some others like brake oil change - transmission oil change etc might be in there .

Atleast for my 45k miles service , i was quoted $499 . When i checked , they were doing a complete car detailing in it . I requested for some additional things like fixing my light peeling , buffing some minor paint scratches etc . All of those were done for free by the hyundai dealer .

Also servicing @ dealer helps in setting a good relationship . I moved to a new area and therefore setting up a relationship with the dealer. The last hyundai dealer used to give me some free additional service for goodwill.

Crazy, you'd think one could simply ask for the OEM service and be done with it. Guess I will need to dig deeper, thanks y'all.

Does this include a rental vehicle for the day? that adds a cost if provided.

Cant remember how much I paid for my 60K service, but I know it was much less than $799, just completed my 75K service and it cost me $306 with a 10% senior citizen discount.

This is ridiculous, what was he doing for the money? I have to say, Been driving for 52 years, had over 30 New cars and countless used ones and company cars. NEVER Paid for a service at a dealership, Never. Change the oil & filter inc air filters, change other fluids at 50K, other parts when they needed replacement. So far it hasn't ever been a problem or anything I was later sorry of.
But I have a neighbor who does everything the dealer says. He had a 02 Expedition that he drove 96K. Dealer charged him over $5K for "required" service during that time. He was happy.
To each his own.

A few years back I was in the waiting room at a dealer. a woman came in and we were talking and she said she really liked her car but the cost of service was higher than expected. Turns out, she was following the dealer's "service menu" and not the car maker. After our conversation, that would be her last time following their suggestions.

No car is damaged from too many oil changes and services but your wallet sure can be.
