  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

One day old....HAPPINESS!
In every automatic temp control equipped car I've driven, when you press AUTO on, the A/C button lights up as well. In the Gennie the A/C button light remains off. Manual indicates that when AUTO is on, everything else will be done automatically. Is this correct? Will I have to wait for warmer weather to find out? And yet, you can manually start A/C by depressing button, (light goes ON), is that to overide AUTO set when temperatures are cool, but not cool enough for driver?

The same thing made bme crazy when I first got my Genesis. The Auto setting is the only one lit.

In your situation, the AUTO lamp is the only one to light up.

The A/C button lights up if you told the system to send the air only from the lower vents, or the upper vents, or both sets of vents, and only then, if you push the A/C button.
I.E. - if you only want outside fresh air, you set the system for the upper vent (the AUTO lamp goes off) and do not push the A/C button.

In my case, I just always leave the AUTO button on. When I have fog or frost on the windshield, the defrosters come on by themselves. Heat or cold always comes out the correct vent, when needed.

I don't know quite how I did the following, but my recycle lamp also comes on/off by itself, even though I do not have the "Circle A" button next to it, pressed in.

After reading your post, I thought as a last resort I would read the manual. it says to turn auto off, press any button except the temp. If you press mode, A/C, defrost, air intake or fan speed, the selected function will be controlled manually. The A/C button will not be lit as auto will function based on the temp you have set.
