  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

ABS brake module failed

The oem cost for that module is outrageous. Has anyone found any other solution? Does the number cross to a cheaper kia or other part? Any rebuild options? I don’t have this problem but if oem is the only option it could total an older genesis.
I got my ABS module for $230 (off a 2014 Genesis) from Automotix and it was $150 to install. Dealership quoted me $3000 installed. 😂

2014 is gen2? So the gen2 abs module fits the gen1?

Was there any warning signs of the module going bad? My 2013, after driving for a bit, when I VERY first touch the brake I'll get like 2-3 quick very slight shudders, it's barely noticeable, my wife for sure would not even pick up on it. It almost feels like the pads aren't quite settled or something. In the back of my mind I'm wondering if I have a $2-3k repair coming up for this ABS module. Mine is a 2013

For both of mine ('09 and '12) there was no advanced warning. In the '09 the pedal went to the floor, no brakes on any of the 4 wheels. In the '12 I lost a brake in only one corner.

The ABS and ESC light came on and both the systems turned off. I spent $150 at the dealer to get it diagnosed.

Does anyone have a part number. I have a 2013 coupe with 2.0 experiencing this issue. Thanks

Sounds like you may have pad materiel embedded in the front rotors. A few hard braking occurrences in a row should clear that up.

I had something similar on another car years ago. Turned out to be a slightly warped rotor. Mind you the harder I braked the more the shudder. Vehicle had ABS but it was fine. Hope it is something simple like that.

We've been having a very unusually wet winter here in California. It's been raining non-stop for the past few weeks. About a week ago I started noticing my brake pedal felt like it has more travel than normal. The other day while driving in traffic I pressed the pedal as normal and it felt like no brakes until about 1/2 way to the floor, then brakes worked as normal. When stopped in traffic, I engaged the auto-hold and pumped the brakes a few times - the pedal stiffened and felt normal. This happened a couple more times throughout the day.

The car has 97K miles now on the original pads, rotors and fluid. Brake pads do need to be replaced soon. No squealing, except when backing up from a parking spot which has happened since buying the car. No warning lights on the dash except for an intermittent TPSM light.

Does this sound like an issue with the HECU? Or perhaps just worn brake components? Or maybe just old fluid or moisture build-up?
