  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I'm not sure how good the adaptive cruise control is when a car cuts in between the car that I am following and my car. A few times it really seemed it didn't see the other car and I had to hit the breaks.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
Yes, its a good system but not perfect. I know what you mean by your post and it can be a second or two of white knuckles before the system "sees" the new car and then aggressively brakes. Same when you change lanes into another with a car in it...they system sees a momentary "empty spot" in front of it in the middle of the lane change, will start to accellerate, and then aggressively brake once it sees the car in the new lane.

I've found it works best in light to mid traffic conditions and also in bumper to bumper. As we creep along, the ACC will keep me at a good distance, brake when the traffic comes to a stop, and the start the car going again when traffic starts to flow (might have to hit the switch if stopped too long). I'm sure folks and Hyundai will tell me that's not a good use of ACC but I love it in traffic.

Not related but can't pass up the kudos is the Auto-Hold function. First thing turned on everytime I start the car!

I have learned to cancel it and then resume it when the car ahead of me is pulling away.

It's considerably better than the system in the 2013 Honda Accord! :D

I think it's pretty good, if you get cut off though, it might take some manual intervention for a moment. I use it every day back and forth to work, and it handles the traffic and bad drivers pretty well considering.

I've got a 2015 Genesis 5.0 that I am putting an aftermarket grille in. Does anyone know what the shield in the grille directly in front of the ACC sensor does? My new grille doesn't have it and I'm worried that the ACC will not work!

I don't know exactly what it does, but when mine wad damaged the ACC and AEB did not work. Seems to be an important part of the system. Can it be transferred to the new grill?

Well that's a bummer! I suppose I'll either see if I can mount it inside somehow or use it without ACC till I get sick of not having it. Not that I'm aware of.

It’s a nice feature to have but Like anything else Acc isn’t foolproof, just because you have it don’t mean ya’all kin drop off to sleep. Lol

Hello to all... Nice to be back.

I know this is going to sound odd, but can it be turned off?

in the 2018 it can in the dash settings.

as for the OP:

I've noticed the problem as well, when a car cuts in front of you it takes a few seconds for the sonar to recalibrate and see it, the issue is mitigated if your settings for distance are set at 3 or 4 blocks. if at 1 or 2 blocks there isn't enough distance.

To use as standard CC? Yes, the one button allows you to set the distance. Pretty sure yours is the same.

The driver may choose to only use
the Cruise Control Mode (speed control
function) by doing as follows:
1. Turn the Smart Cruise Control
System on (the cruise indicator
light will be on but the system will
not be activated).
2. Push and hold the Vehicle-to-
Vehicle Distance button for more
than 2 seconds.
3. Choose between "Smart Cruise
Control" and "Cruise Control".
When the system is canceled using
the CRUISE button or the CRUISE
button is used after the engine is
turned on, the Smart Cruise Control
will turn on.

No kidding? Thanks so much!!

My problem is when traveling a two lane road in traffic in the left lane and then the road curves to the left, it brakes as if the car in the right lane is in front of me. I'm worried a car could rear end me. Also when the car is in ACC will the brake lights come on when it automatically brakes?

Yes, the brake lights come on. If you use Auto Hold and take your foot off the brakes the lights also stay on.

The sensor is shooting a beam in the straight line so if it sees an obstruction in range it applies the brakes. I don't see it often, but it does happen. A guardrail at times can set it off too.

How do you have the range set. 1,2,3, or 4 bars? I’ve found on curves like this if you knock it down to 1 bar going into the curve and set it back to 3 or 4 coming out of the curve it is less likely to brake around the curve.

While Smart Cruise is a great feature it still requires user interaction

Good that you mentioned that. On the highway I usually have it on 2 bars and have less problems with cars in front changing lanes. It isn't perfect, but sure is nice to have.

I didn’t think about changing the range in the curve, thanks. I’ll give it a shot.

Man I know some of you really like new technology like this adaptive Cruise but I would rather it be an option that I didn't have to pay for. I don't trust it and although many of you will probably stay focused and aware of the situation, I fear that many will not and this kind of technology will lead to more accidents as people become more reliant on it to work for them so they don't have to pay attention while they are behind the wheel.
..To each their own, opinion that is.... I just hope you don't run into the back of me!

I don't use it based on opinion. I use it based on personal experience and facts. So far, it has performed well for me and I don't know of any accidents caused by it. Regular CC has cause accidents.

Read the conclusion to this and see how it can avoid accidents and save lives

ACC system provides assistance to the driver in driving in vehicle. We
can say that ACC is a medium of making driving perfect and keeping the vehicle
away from accidents. During foggy situation or in poor weather, driver is not able
to judge the distance between the preceding vehicles. But ACC system provides an
easier way to drive in foggy and poor weather condition also.ACC System has
a potential to reduce the number of accidents.

Still a good ideal to look out the window once in a while though.
