If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. Hey Everyone, I'm not sure if I'm posting in the correct sub-forum but here goes nothing!
I just recently purchased a 2011 White Exterior/Saddle Interior Hyundai Genesis 4.6 and was looking into having it tinted. I Live in the west palm beach florida area and was wondering if anyone had any experience with any dealers around here - specifically a place called "Performance Films". They currently have a deal going on - All Five windows with Suntek "Carbon XP" Ceramic tint for 170 (It's a $100 discount) and then another 100 for the front window with UV Protection Film. I've never heard of Suntek either and was just hoping to gather some information on best dealers/tint film makers!

Suntek is a very common, lower end brand.

I can't say I recommend tinting the windshield.

Well I've done some more research and the other dealers I've found have offered the following -

Huper Optik Ceramic - $350
F1 Pinnacle - $270
3M Ceramic - $270
Llumar - $170

The things I'm looking for most are Heat reduction (Gotta Love the Florida sun) and the Tint staying black and not changing to green/purple. Just looking for peoples opinions on which is the best for me, I've heard great things about F1 Pinnacle

I live in Davie and had my side and rear windows tinted with Johnson Films Insulatir IR40 (42%). I've had the tint on for 9 months now and it does a GREAT job of keeping the inside of the car cooler. I have no garage, so it has to sit in the FL sun all day long. It's not a "black out" film, but works great.

The tint was installed by Brian's Window Tinting in Hollywood, FL. It cost me about $240. Click on the link in my sig for info about Johnson Films Insulatir films.

soon enough I am going to tint the windows. The place im going to uses llamar ceramic film and tint the front windshield with their air blue tint as well. im not too sure on brands but a lot of installers use llumar here in TN. we dont get as much sun as FL but I would like all glass on the car tinted in some way.

Huper Optik is what everyone raves about though people don't tend to want to spend that much. F1 Pinnacle is probably what I'd get out of that list as a good medium. You're lucky. Those prices are $100 higher around here for back and sides.

I don't recommend front tint simply for the fact that it will cut a significant amount of your night time visibility. Most people want brighter lights on the road, but you'd only be able to use less with full windshield tint. The top strip on the other hand is fine.

llumar makes clear window film and they say it blocks 99% uv rays. they call it air 80. they also make the air blue 80, its got that benzo blueish tint to it.

i live done here in miami.

i know a guy which has a warehouse near miami beach.
this guy has done all the tints on all the cars ive owned.

he uses good paper, been tinting for over 13 years and give lifetime warranty
on almost anything.

he only charge me $80 for tinting the whole car, including the front windshield

80 dollars?! woow, that's really cheap compare to "our" prices, up here in Windy City.
I called the company that have done front doors only on my Santa Fe last year, the price was $110, and now they quoted me $325 for Genesis. They use some kind of "carbon" film, nothing else.
I must say, they did an amazing job on my previous car.

$80 including the tint film? How much does it cost for a real ceramic tint film. That smoky stuff is junk, regardless of whether it comes with a warranty.

Try TintKing just North of Okee on Military. I have had most my cars tinted by them, including multiple Genesis. I used F1 Pinnacle. They will tint the windshield (I hightly recoment this) with AirBlue. Use AirBlue and ignore what others say about the windshield as they are assuming you are doing some sort of dark tint. Good Luck

Wrong. A 50% tint is still 50% of light being filtered out and 50% of the the light from your headlights not being usable.

Air Blue is not 50%. Worry about the laws in your own state. Another reason I don't post here. Too many experts.

what type of look are you really looking for ?

i like the blacked out look on the windows so i went with his regular paper.

i can show you some pics

i thought air blue is 80%...

According to Google it's 78%. The number I used was an arbitrary one that's still not considered a dark tint just the make the point. Almost 1/4 of light is still a significant amount. It's the different between an LL (long life, also means low power) headlamp bulb and the brightest of the bright +80 overwattage bulbs.

However if that doesn't bug you, by all means.

well, as long as cops dont pull me over im fine with that. laws here in tn states no darker than 35% and no tint of any kind on front but i say F the law. im going to do it anyways. plus, i seen the air blue its almost clear. i dont think cops will pull me over for front windshield tint maybe the sides but im going to be complaint with that part and get 35% tint on those. thats just me. i never heard of any other brands than 3m and llumar.

The quality of the product is very important, often the warranty is overlooked
and seldom compaired. If my film is accidently scratched or window broken,
will the shop replace the film absolutely free no questions asked for the life of
the tint even if it should fail? Consider how will your night visability will be
affected even with a legal tint.

The results should be and improved view from the inside, less glare, etc.

Since I plan to have my Genny for along time, and I'm a stickler for detail &
quality, I chose Formula 1 Pennacle and the Llumar Air Blue 80. It is $$$,
but for me worth it. Excellent warranty.:D

My past 2 cars (including my Genesis which I just purchased last week and got tinted 2 days ago) have always been tinted with Llumar film. Looks great and still look as good after 5 years as the day I got it. They also have a lifetime warranty.

I got 30% on my front and back and I have a black on black. Looks awesome!

What is anyone's opinion about simply not tinting the back window at all, since I've got the screen, as many of us do. It's not about saving money (I plan on having the sides done) or preserving the AM radio antenna, etc.. Just wondering if it's even necessary. (Colorado--lots of sun, high altitude.) Will the screen block out most of the heat anyway?
