  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

When I purchased my Genesis back in 2011, I bought it w/out the stock Navigation system on purpose. I just automatically assumed there was an aftermarket DVD/Stereo kit/harness for my vehicle. NOPE! It aint out yet  . I was so frustrated which eventually drove me to call place after place on who can do it. I finally found a place in which they were able to custom install it including headrest. So basically this thread is for letting you know it can happen. The only thing that didn't work correctly was the steering wheel audio controllers. it works, meaning does something such as mute the stereo but don't expect to be able to control the sound like the factor one. Instead you can either use the remote that came w/ DVD player or touch screen. they had to move the temperature terminal in the glove box which was a nice fit and I still have enough space for the manual guide and other small items. I can show a pic of that too. Here are the pics:

Looks great.

I like the look of the custom DRLs in the top photo.

Where did you get them (make/model/cost, and did you install yourself?)

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
I'd love a working "plug-and-play" headrest LCD aftermarket option. Yours looks great!

Headrests loom good. Your exterior looms perfect. What rims are those ?

Thanks. I got that professionally installed for only $125. Not bad of a price. You probably can do it yourself but since the price was not bad I just chose to have them do it vs. me. Basically you have a small gap between the bumper and headlight housing. Just order some LED adhesive strips (make sure they point out at 90 degree angle vs. down..there is a difference. They make some just for headlights) and stick to the headlight housing. You can get anywhere. Not too sure where they ordered mine from but here is the number in which you can call and ask... 919.489.3300 ask for David

I wish they had the LED single strip bars (like the new Audi's) vs. the ones having the led nodes. Waiting for that to come out :-)

I was looking here and there is a vendor selling the UNAVI navigation system that is plug and play that looks completely OEM. I keeps all of the factory options like Steering Wheel controls, XM, Bluetooth, and the AC controls are on the same screen. I personally like the way the UNAVI looks vs. a square box in the middle of your dash, this is a very expensive car and to kill a great looking dash with a "box" in the middle of your dash, and loosing your glove like that. Man I would have looked into the UNAVI I looks completely OEM.

How did you keep your XM, Bluetooth, Steering Wheel controls and what ever other options you had?

I can see what you are saying, but I hate factory navigation systems as they are not worth the money and are very limited. This System which is a Kenwood Excelon DNX9980HD (really any high end aftermarket NAV/DVD system) can out perform what factory Nav's can do such as play DVD's (I have kids), integrate TV satellite, dual zone control, etc. It's basically extensible in which factory Navs are not. It can adapt to future technologies as yours can't. I'm a developer and I'm alll about being extensible ;)

The only thing I lost was the volume control in the steering wheel. I can mute it from there but that's it.

I hear you and that is one of the reasons why I pased on a couple that had factory navigation. Don't get me wrong I love kenwood and when I was growning up all my cars had a kenwood double din set up from my civic si, to my GSR Integra, and RX7 TT (man I miss that car!) the first thing that went in was what ever was the latest and greatest kenwood.

Now that I'm older married with children of my own and driving such a fine automobile such as the Genesis there is no way I would have stuck a double din in the middle of such a good looking dash. It was fine with my other cars when growing up, but no dice with the Genesis.

I was talking to David the vendor carlighttrends.com about the UNAVI navigation system for the genesis, and from what he is telling me that is a no-brainer it looks just like a OEM navigation system on how it sits in the dash 8" screen and it is completly plug-n-play. Apart from the Navigation it also plays movies via a USB drive. David was telling me that I will keep all my factory options (XM, Bluetooth, steering wheel controls) and comes with a 3 year warranty, I'll be honest from what I'm seeing and what he is telling me, and what is on his site I'm about to pull the trigger on the UNAVI Navigation system.

Thanks..

The rims are Vossen CV1's. I ordered from Carid http://www.carid.com/vossen-wheels/vvscv1-black-machined-351029.html

I got the Staggered Concave look which is where its at today. Got 9" in front and 10.5 for rear. The size is 20 inch. The ride is still smooth with no issues extra mods needed.

Adding exact rim specifics/offset.etc (NO MODIFICATIONS NEEDED/REQUIRED):

Front:

VOSSEN® - VVSCV1 Matte Black with Machined Face and SS Lip (20" x 9", +38 Offset, 5x114.3 Bolt Pattern, 73.1mm Hub)

NEXEN® 10177 - N3000 (245/40ZR20 Y)

Rear:

VOSSEN® - VVSCV1 Matte Black with Machined Face and SS Lip (20" x 10.5", +42 Offset, 5x114.3 Bolt Pattern, 73.1mm Hub)

NEXEN® 10159 - N3000 (285/30ZR20 Y)

I'm working on this project right now and I'm having an issue getting the seat back off, does anyone know how to get remove them without damaging?

I wish I could help but I had it professionally installed and was not there when they took off the seats. My recommendation would be to go to a local car stereo company and ask. Possibly they will share the knowledge vs. being stingy.

BUT......I will say this, I did see them off. There are two hooks both horizontally positioned mid/topish if that makes sense. You would want to lift it up then out as the hook angle went down like ----|

I have a headrest car dvd just bought these days. I gonna install it tomorrow. I will show you guys the pics after the installtion work. pre-look of my headrest dvd
