  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Just purchased a 2013 Genesis 3.8 liter 4 dr and I love it. Smooth ride great acceleration beautiful interior and the list goes on. However it has a base radio in it which to me kind of cheapens the interior. Does anyone know of anyone that can change it or if it can be changed at all.

If you have the base trim model with no navigation, you should look at this site:
http://unavi-usa.com/store/p13/GenesisSedan
It is not cheap, since it doesn't replace the speakers or amp, but it does include a GPS Nav system.

I don't know of any other replacement for the audio system, other than a very expensive custom job that would exceed $10K.

I also have a 2012 with the base stereo in it and am wondering the same thing, can the stereo be upgraded with an aftermarket stereo besides a unavi?

I have installed a Pioneer DMH-C5500NEX and it works great, but I am looking to find a solution to get my steering wheel controls back. Has anyone done this mod that his successfully integrated the steering wheel controls back?
I have tried the Axxess SWC-1, Pac modules cp2 and cp5 without any success. The Maestro SW is out as they only support the genesis coupe.

@wolf359
Just saw this today for retaining your SWC on Genesis Sedans. Its a CRUX-SWRHK-65S interface. Supposed to work.
I am also interested in upgrading my head unit soon also.

Hello,
Actually I got my steering controls working with the PAC SWI-CP2 finally. Unfortunately now I have the Axcess (which I almost got working as it was responding to steering button presses but I think I needed to change the radio type) and also have a PAC CP5 which I am sure would work as I got the CP2 to work. Maybe I will try and sell these on eBay or something.
I was going to try the Crux module next, but thank goodness I am don't have to.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
I've got a 2012 4.6 and its frustration it only lets you pair your phone to make calls but not to play or stream music. Has anyone found a upgrade unit to replace base head unit?

If you are adventurous, you might want to consider just changing the head unit. I needed something more than what I got with my 2013 sedan. Installed a Pioneer DMH-C5500NEX, now I have Apple CarPlay and a better overall unit. I am not ready to just get rid of my car just because of the head unit lol, still looks practically new. So took a risk in changing out the head unit even though everywhere you read says it cant be done.

Since I've been told over and over again it can't be done or I'll loose steering wheel functions not sure I'm willing to spend close to $1,000 just to find out it doesn't work then have to spend more to have my original put back.
I'm adventurous but money is the issue since I'm a 65yr old retired guy trying to survive on just my SS income.

What did you find that would work? Because I've been told by several places nothing will work for my car. If you happen to find one that kinda works then you loose steering wheel functions.
Pioneer DMH-C5500NEX used with a PAC CP2. Only lost the on screen climate info everything else works including steering wheel controls. There is a port on most Pioneer head units for iDatalink Maestro which would make the climate info show in the display, but they don't have support for the sedan as of now, only the coupe. I'm ok with not having the on screen climate info, so not a big deal for me.

Sweet! how much did you pay for the head unit and install?

They are still about $650 or so. I installed it myself, everywhere said it couldn't be done like you have been told as well. I think that has more to do with the way Hyundai made the car, so most installers just look and then just flat out say no because they don't want to deal with it.
