  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Aftermarket stereo

Yep. SoCal. I recently came across this Android head unit which looks similar to the way I have the Pioneer head unit mentioned installed. I'll stick with my Pioneer lol. But thats another option if you want to swap it out. Maybe some place like Al & Eds or somewhere can do it for it. Looks like it comes connected to new trim.

Where in Cali are you? Can I hire you to install it?

I am not an installer by trade, wouldn't feel comfortable installing in someone else's car.

My Genesis 2011 has Lexicon audio system, i try to play high res music via usb, but it just recognize mp3 files not very happy.

Might be the player. I have no problem playing lossless music files through bluetooth even. I use a Fiio player.

What harness did you use? I am looking to upgrade my head unit and wanted to know what kit and harness was used

I had bought the typical Metra harness for Hyundai that supposedly would work, but no, it didn't lol. I had to skip the harness altogether and hardwire. The only thing extra I used was the PAC CP2 module. There are other modules that claim to work for our 1st gen cars, but it's mostly for the coupe.
Not sure why these companies that make the modules and so many other after market accessories thought sedan owners don't need it or would not want to do modifications. 95% of things you look up ends up being for coupe only. That's my rant for the day lol.

Any chance you can do a walk thru on the install? I got me a nice Apple CarPlay kenwood in a trade yesterday and hate to just let it sit in my closet lol. I think this weekend I’m going to try and install the stereo myself, along with some focal components

Next month will be a year since I installed my radio. If you are good with wiring you should be ok, just be prepared for a lot of wires everywhere. I had to use a dremel to cut some of the corners out a bit to get mine to fit in the space because I wanted a larger screen than what was already there. Doesn't look like the oem radio that was there, but I like it, works for me. Also know that there is not a lot of space for a normal double din, that's another reason I got the modular one.

Any Hyundai Genesis wiring diagram you used to hardwire?

No, mostly the guess and check method lol. If you don't get a diagram, for your steering wheel controls you can just take the bottom steering wheel column cover off to see what color wires are going to them. Speaker wires are not normal colors so that took the longest to figure out. The wiring harness that Metra had for 09-14 Genesis sedan didn't work. I don't think they actually even tried it to be honest, the pin connector was totally different, so I had to hard wire.

Would you be willing to share any of the tutorials you have used to do this? I just ordered this unit from AliExpress and I would like to do it on my own if possible. I have the base 2011 3.8L V6 Genesis Sedan. Thanks in advance for your help.
They are still about $650 or so. I installed it myself, everywhere said it couldn't be done like you have been told as well. I think that has more to do with the way Hyundai made the car, so most installers just look and then just flat out say no because they don't want to deal with it.

Pioneer DMH-C5500NEX used with a PAC CP2. Only lost the on screen climate info everything else works including steering wheel controls. There is a port on most Pioneer head units for iDatalink Maestro which would make the climate info show in the display, but they don't have support for the sedan as of now, only the coupe. I'm ok with not having the on screen climate info, so not a big deal for me.
Do you happen to have a list of things you will need for this? I'm also wondering if you have gotten the climate info to show on the display?

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
Are you also in Calif?
Did you ever get the new radio installed? If so did you do it yourself or hire someone else to do it? If you did it yourself how difficult was it?

I shared in a different post, but I eventually got a system from AliExpress and got it installed. I was quite impressed with the system, and it's working great for the moment. Trying to work out a few kinks with the radio and OBD information. Here are a few photos of the installed system.

If you are adventurous, you might want to consider just changing the head unit. I needed something more than what I got with my 2013 sedan. Installed a Pioneer DMH-C5500NEX, now I have Apple CarPlay and a better overall unit. I am not ready to just get rid of my car just because of the head unit lol, still looks practically new. So took a risk in changing out the head unit even though everywhere you read says it cant be done.
What Apple CarPlay unit did you get? We have a 2011 Genesis Sedan with Touchscreen navigation. When you look for replacement stereos it says its not recommended for our vehicle but the pictures all show the vehicles with the dial control for the Navigation.

Hello,
Actually I got my steering controls working with the PAC SWI-CP2 finally. Unfortunately now I have the Axcess (which I almost got working as it was responding to steering button presses but I think I needed to change the radio type) and also have a PAC CP5 which I am sure would work as I got the CP2 to work. Maybe I will try and sell these on eBay or something.
I was going to try the Crux module next, but thank goodness I am don't have to.
How do you control your heat and ac?

Did you get this unit to work I ordered one and can’t get sound.

Yes, have been using it and it works very well. The sound has a surround algorithm too and works great on the old speakers. The only caveat is a faint hissing noise that seems to get on my nerves until I start playing music.

I also got this professionally installed, realized that I couldn't get this done by myself. the radio antenna they gave wasn't a good one, so I had to order an additional piece at the stereo shop.
