  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

air condition not working blowing hot air 2012 genesis sedan 3.8

Check back in previous posts about cold air blowing thru one side or the other during cold weather when heat needed. Sounds like you have mode selector issue going on. Need more info to assist with troubleshooting. Very smart people on this forum way more input than myself.

Could be a lot of things. Loss of refrigerant, damper not in proper position, relay, fuse.

No one can do much not seeing the car and more details. I'd find a car AC shop and have them put gauges on the system to see if it is filled.

thank you i cant find the ac relay would you know where it might be?

Are you sure that you have an AC clutch? I think by 2012, you should have the variable control valve at the back of the compressor, instead of an electric clutch. In that case, there will be no AC relay.

ok thank you iam bringing the car in to my mechanic i thought it might of been some think simple like a fuse or relay...

One would think if the car sat there and ran with the A/C running any leak would be instantly evident...? The reason I say this is I had everything A/C related under the hood replaced on my wife's SUV(I bought everything from RockAuto) and the shop replaced the parts. They charged me for the freon, dye and labor. Works perfectly and didn't have to go back for any issues.

i have a very slow leak so i have to wait to see where the dye is coming out hope its just an O ring ..

I understand but they use a black light to the see any leaks with the dye showing up which is "right away". Just my .02
Not if it is the evaporator, or out-gassing through the hoses.
In any event, it should be easier to spot after running a little while.

Evap coil going bad is rare, bit I had two. They put dye in my G80 and months later, found the leak.

Okay, thanks Ed. One would think in muggy Florida it would show up quicker?

The dealer did an evacuation and recharge. They put dye in at that time. Problem was solved for months. Then one day, no AC. Took a couple of weeks to get in and yes, it is hot and muggy here.

One they found it, took a couple of days to get the coil, then 2 1/2 days to do the job.

They'd have to tear out a good bit of the dash to be able to see it sooner. It's much more reasonable to wait till it shows up in the condensate water dripping under the car.

Had to replace my condenser Friday. Hopefully that's it for awhile.

Wow, so below 60K miles.
The condenser is behind the grill and in front of the radiator. It may have been hit by a rock or something, rather than just failing on its own.
