  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I am having issues with my 2022 Genesis G70 being able to keep the interior cool when it is hot out. It has been in the shop once already for this issue. They replaced the heating and air conditioner module and we thought that fixed it but it wasn’t warm enough to test it before I took it home. They don’t know what to do to fix it and they mentioned to me that they will submit a question to the Genesis Tech line and see if they can help. Otherwise, they said they might not be able to fix it. I think that is crazy they are saying they might not be able to fix it. I put a video of the issue on YouTube. I compare my car to my sisters car. She also has a 2022 Genesis G70 and she doesn’t have issues with her A/C. You can see at about 1:46 of the video, my car is blowing air that is 75 degrees, even though I have it set to 70 degrees.

Also, this is my third Genesis G70 and had now issues with any of my other G70s. I also have a 2020 Hyundai Sonata and a 2021 Hyundai Palisade and have no issues with the A/C.

Do any of you have any thoughts about why this might be an issue? Any ideas on to fix it? Have any of you had the same issue?

Any help would be appreciated.

Sounds like it might be worth looking into your local lemon law. If nothing else than to get familiar with your rights and what documentation to keep track of.

What happens if you set it to auto? Did they replace the temperature sensor?

It doesn’t it keep it cool enough in auto. Even if I set it at 64, it is still too hot in the car.

I don’t believe they replaced the temperature sensor.

I looked at the field service manual and there are pretty specific instructions on how to troubleshoot the AC. This really shouldn't be a big deal for them to find the issue and resolve. If you DM me, I can send you the FSM for the AC.

I don't know what the fix is, but that temperature is not right. If they are not capable of diagnosing it, they should send you to a good AC shop on their dime.
I can think of a few things they should have checked, the charge, the compressor, damper controllers and more.
Since the temperature was53 and went to 75, good chance it is the the sealed system but it is allowing warm air in.
Reeks of incompetency.

Thanks for your thoughts on it. I sent the video that I made to the sales manager and hopefully they will send it to the tech line and I will make some progress.

small rant: this is my third G70 and had issues with every one of them. First one needed a new transmission after 1,200 miles. My second one had to have the rotors replaced twice within 7,000 miles. My Palisade that I just bought had to be towed to the dealership and they don’t have any loaners and say they don’t know when they will be able to get to my Palisade. So extremely frustrating.

You can also call corporate, or put in a private message to Genesis via your owner's section in the Genesis website. I have done that for two serious issues when I could not get traction with my local dealer. The dealer was very compliant afterwards, and both issues were resolved.

Thanks maybe I will try that.

Did you ever get it fixed?
Nope they told me it is working within an acceptable range and that they weren’t going to fix it. I submitted a ticket to corporate. I wish I would have never bought it at this point because now I am stuck with the problem.

Hopefully that may help. Any other dealers near you to try?
I'd talk to an independent AC shop and see what the charge would be to diagnose. I know you should not have to spend anything but if for a small charge you can get something definite and they go after the dealer to reimburse.

Yes their are other dealers but they are equally bad. I will see where corporate tells me and go from there.

I have a similar issue with a brand new 2022 G70. It's almost like the AC randomly turns off. It will be plenty cold one minute and then blow warm air for 30-60 seconds. I haven't taken it to the dealership yet. It seems like an issue with a sensor. I'll let you know if I have any luck.

Mine never got fixed even after taking it to the dealership. I just have to put it all the way on low and just regulate the fan instead of using auto. It kinda of sucks.

Still in warranty? That is unacceptable.

I'd make an appointment at the dealer every week until fixed. Probably a sensor or similar.
They told me they are not going to fix it and that is it working with the allowable specs.

The fact that you have your sister's car to compare it to is huge. How big of an indoor temperature difference is there between yours and your sister's car? I think if you could document that two models of the same car, parked in the same spot or right next to each other (but facing the same direction) had large temperature differences, you could have a case, if not convincing enough for the dealer, at least convincing enough for a lemon law attorney.
