  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Air Shocks/Suspension

My fronts are starting to lose the capability to hold air and I tried to find fronts without much success. Getting it done at the dealership is insanely expensive so I've ordered the strutmasters kit with the error code extra. I'll report back after the install.
RMT didn't have any available?

I bought them there before and they didn't last as long as I had hoped. So I'm going to go with a replacement. This is the one headache with the car that I wish I would have addressed differently. I should have gone with the Strumasters system right away. I replaced the front, rears, the rears again after some road debris punctured one, then other parts of the front system and now the fronts are leaking again. Every time I see someone on a car show getting an air ride I cringe. If they lasted they would be great.

Out of curiosity, how long did the RMT front struts last?

I just got my car back after the install. It cost just under $700 for the install. I've done about 30 minutes of driving and it is a little different but very good. No lights on the dash and no more wondering if a bag is going to fail.

Update. I now have driven about 1000 miles since installing the strutmaster system. I think the only place I can tell the difference is around town if the roads suck. I'm not sure, but I think it might handle twisty backroads a little better. I wish I had done this right away.

I went through two sets of strutmasters and they suck. They were installed three times by mechanic and clank when I hit potholes so small and man hole covers the front sounds like its going to fall off car. I ruined the beautiful car with this horrible strut system- strutmasters sent me two sets still same shet- it sux having the bang noise each and every time I hit a small divot NOT large pot holes even
See I don't know why you are going with Strutmasters to replace air suspension. If you want to go over air suspension just look at KIA K900 suspension (shock absorber with coil spring in Front, coil spring in rear) that fits perfectly on Equus without ruined your car and it will drive smooth 95% as air suspension.
KIA K900* shares the same chassis, engine, transmission with HYUNDAI EQUUS.
See the pictures below

* KIA K900 (Quoris) comes with two different suspension setup one of them is the Coil spring and another is the Air suspension (same as Equus) depending on the country region.

** The cheapest way to find a replacement is by going to scrap yard if you are tight in budget otherwise just order new parts OEM from official KIA dealer

My suggestion fix the suspension ONLY with OEM parts no strutmaster crap as I had three sets of strutmasters and they all stink- I should have done OEM and fixed it the right way. My 2014 Equus was probably one of my all time favorite cars of all time and worth the effort and you have 54K miles on yours I would absolutely think the car is still to this day worth a fix like that - DO NOT SELL you will regret it - fix and enjoy

You can go woth OEM (from KIA) coil spring suspension insted of air suspension which will last long for next 7 years without issues

If you've gone with KIA OEM parts, what was the cost for parts and install. I was at about $2,000 for Strutmasters parts and install and it seems to be working well.
If you look at scrap yard it will be very cheap for front shock absorber with coil spring and top mounting it will cost $120 only you needs two pcs right and left total: $240 only.
For rear you need coil spring X2: $100
Total: $340 only

For deleting warning sign the small electronic device from strut master cost $440 it's very expensive. (Optional)
See the mentioned parts in the picture below

I do think most people have reacted that they don't want the warning light on but there is another option for you Equus owners. I've already done the Strutmasters replacement and so far so good. I mistakenly thought that the K900 was sister to the Genesis Sedan not the Equus. To me it looks like if you like an Equus but hate dealing with the suspension system, look for a used K900 instead. When I'm ready to retire my Equus I'll definitely look at the KIA. Thanks lancer3000gt for the info.

Where can i find these ?

Where can i find these ?
Good question 🤔
For suspension parts you have two options:
1. Scrap yard you will found tons of them online with cheap price.
You can search online

2. From official dealer of KIA.

When you replace the rear air shocks, do you need to fill them with air? The service writer at the dealership says no, but I've burst 3 of these air bags already. It's really frustrating.

How many miles are on your Equus? 3 over 200k miles is reasonable but 3 over 50k is not. Also, is it always the same side?
