  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Alternatives to G70?

You can get 19" on the AWD version as well. Just depends on how your dealer ordered it. I live in Mississippi so there's no need for all season tires so even the AWD stingers we got had the 19" summer tires. Best of both worlds in my opinion.

Here in Canada all the 3.3T sports come with performance summer 19s

Excellent..! You have the RWD then?

That would be ideal. Have you put it on a dyno though? If it was AWD from the factory, it's probably governed...or the big ass Stinger thread was wrong, or I missed something. IIRC there were people who had that situation and weren't happy to find out they had a governed ride. (GT 2 AWD NOT REALLY A STINGER!?!?)

I think you just missed something. I've been at the Stinger forum for a while and was following that thread. I also just went back and looked again and over the last two pages there are people who state that it's only with the 18 in tires that you get the lower governor. It makes sense, the tires are the limiting factor because they're not rated for as high of speed. Also, the website says as much. I've attached a picture for you.

Edit: That's for a build of an AWD by the way.

Good to know. Hopefully it'll be the same here. The Stinger was not done that way in the US. Dealers were ordering them with the 18in all season in places that might require, which normally would be helpful but not as helpful when the governor is set to a lower speed than usual.

Thanks, JayceM - I would love to be wrong in this case. I'll go back and see what I can see in the thread.

...

There's a post early on which says to check the tire sticker inside the door jamb...this will determine if your car was originally specced for 18 or 19" tires...which is apparently the crux of the issue.

Anyone with a 19 AWD care to look at their tire sticker and report back..? (Also, please mention if you're in Canada or elsewhere.)

3.3 is AWD only in Canada.

Test drove the s5 sportback this weekend. That interior and performance make waiting for this g70 release harder and harder

I know. I wish the G70 was a hatchback design like the S5 Sportback. I can't say I'd pay $55,000- $65,000 for the Audi, though.

Cpo with under 10k miles, for 54k.. Originally 68k. Unlimited mile warranty for 4+ years
And for all we know the g70 3.3 is going to be over 50 and probably at least 6-9 months away from seeing any slightly used models on the lots. Also that virtual cockpit had me drooling 🤤C2C0E055-7620-4AFA-B9D1-16DAA421CA28.webp

I seem to remember reading some complaints that it was washed out on bright days, or something like that.

I want it as well...but you cannot lease a CPO. So I’m stuck waiting. G70 will be a tick quicker.

Do you have the DRIFT made that has been mentioned recently. In sport mode turn of nannys then straight RWD. I read 90% to rear wheel and another said 100%
If it's something they built into the car, it is there. There are no tracks near here to test it out on.

I've read that Audi Google maps in the virtual cockpit will stop working at the end of 2020 for pre '19 models. I think the regular navi will still work, however.

Auto manufacturers need to come to a place where they start to care more about technological features like this...people own cars longer than mobile phones. Hopefully we'll get a standards-based automotive ecosystem which will rely more on interop between mobile phones and car infotainment.

Smart, but not so smart as to be dangerous if hacked...

I think Google is working with some manufacturers to bring out an actual Android OS to the car. My only concern with that is that eventually they'll stop updating your car, sort of like what happens with Android phones.

Exactly! Then a couple decades down the line your "vintage" automobile is easily war dialed by a passing script kiddie.

I guess it'll be hard to make the market care until car hacking goes more mainstream..?

It isn't going to stop working, it is just that the free subscription to the service will end and users will have to start paying. And it will end at different times for different people depending on how long they have had their car. It is similar to the Genesis connected services we have free for x amount of time and then have to pay. Just with Audi, their system also allows google earth to show on your IP.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!

To add...in reference to the Audi. I have a 2013 A4...and never paid for services. I simply have an extra T-Mobile number...so I have my simm in the slot (below CD slot)...and Google Maps works in my nav. Mind you...only 3G. Oh well.
