  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Aluminum Pedals

Thanks man! Awesome pics - just when I was saying "shoot, wish he had added a pic of that" I scroll down and sure enough there it is.

I always try to include many pictures for topics like this. Without them the post is almost useless.

Is the OEM Coupe Accelerator and Brake pedal bolt on or double sided tape on?

I thought I saw that there was a bolt on option for the accelerator. That option seems a hell of a lot safer if so.

Both the Dynamic Sedan Accelerator Pedal and Coupe Accelerator Pedal bolt in since they are factory Hyundai parts. The brake pedal is a cover that slips over top of the metal portion of factory brake pedal. You remove the normal rubber piece and replace it with the metal one. It is also a factory Hyundai part. About 100% positive that the brake pedal cover is universal for all Hyundai's.

The OP had bought a universal pedal "cover" set where the Accelerator Pedal cover was applied with tape and dead pedal was installed by using self tapping screws. His set came with the same Hyundai Brake Pedal cover as I used.

Thanks man. Pretty easy install for the accelerator pedal?

Pedal Install Steps

Thanks man. Pretty easy install for the accelerator pedal?

Yes very easy in fact.

  • Disconnect Battery - Factory FSM said to do this but not sure if it is 100% required but I did it anyways.
  • Pop a small plastic bolt cover off located at base of pedal.
  • Remove the bolt connecting pedal to the floor.
  • Pull up on pedal assembly - There is a black angled piece on backside of pedal assembly that slides into a groove. This secures it more than the bolt in my opinion.
  • Disconnect APS connector. - Could do this before pulling up on pedal if you like.
  • Install in reverse of removal.
  • Sit back and enjoy the upgrade.

100% OEM Hyundai Metal Pedals Installed

Background Info
There is some background information about the Metal accelerator pedals offered by Hyundai that can be found in this thread if interested Dynamic Edition Metal Accelerator Pedal. Cliff-notes version is that the Dynamic Edition Metal Accelerator Pedal was only offered on the Dynamic Edition in Korea. It is significantly larger than a regular pedal due to the additional module but functions perfectly without being plugged in. Second and best option is the Metal Accelerator offered on 2011+ Genesis Coupe Track Models. Coup pedal is the same size as a regular accelerator pedal found in the sedan and unctions without issue installed into the sedan.

Genesis Coupe Metal Dead Pedal
Received the Metal Dead Pedal from KDM Motors the other week and got around to installing it over the weekend. Got the idea from the Genesis Coupe Forum OEM Metal Pedals but wasn't sure if it would be possible until taking things apart. Turns out the dead pedal metal stamping in the sedan is close enough to the coupe that it did work.

Installation
  1. Remove the driver door scuff, hood release lever, and side interior panel.
  2. Pull back the carpet to expose the sound deadening hard panel that covers the dead pedal metal stamping.
  3. Cut away the panel to expose the metal underneath.
  4. Fold carpet back down and trim out the rubber deal pedal portion of the carpet. I trimmed the majority of the rubber away but left the edge intact in hopes the carpet would hold up longer.
  5. Measure, measure, mark, measure and drill a mounting hole for the lower clip. GenesisCoupe forum suggested to use a 1/4" drill bit but I found the hole to be a tad small and used a 9/32" bit instead. Due to the length of the pedal the upper most metal clip is not used because there is no metal to attach it to. Found that the pedal is very secure and upper clip is not needed.
  6. Interior panel needs to be trimmed due to the height of the dead pedal which I did not expect when I started the install. Be careful not to trim too much of the panel or you will expose some harness wires that are hidden by the cover.

Would this fit a 2012 5.0L R-Spec?

2012 should be fine since it is a first gen. You would have to confirm the APS sensor and plug are the same. Also need to have a similar operating voltage and input curve. Only be able to see that in the FSM (Factory Service Manual).

As for the dead pedal, the floor stamping would need to be the same as earlier Gen 1 models, don't know why it wouldn't be Only way to know is to lift back the carpet and look, compare to my images and ones in link gen coupe link. Installing this is a one way street, carpet has to be cut.

Xiaphin, any idea what the difference between the brake part number you provided and 32825-17060?
