  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

So I guess for I should start by saying I recently purchased by Genesis Coupe Premium package 2.0T with Navigation Unit, Automatic transmission, and before this I drove a Honda Civic gen 6 LX.
Purchase Price: 24,900 Before Tax Title etc...
So I thought for those interested in purchasing I would post up a bit of information on my take on the Genesis Coupe likes dislikes and go into detail.

Handling: Man does this thing handle well. Taking turns is nice and smooth but for those who are use to a loose steering wheel it does take a bit of getting use to. The wheel is a stiffer than my civic was. I can take turns and it is nice.

Suspension and Brakes: Let me start by saying this is a Sports Car... So the suspension to the group is rough roads definitely can be felt in this car. Its winter here and cold so that may be a contributing factor since the tires would be more dense. As far as the suspension goes for what it was meant to do... you can slam on the brakes and not get thrown forward. The suspension is nice to keep you from nice and level and those Brembo brakes are very responsive. You can easily stop but dont get too crazy with it not everyone can stop as fast as you can.

Power and Performance: Right now its stock and I find that I feel I get better pull with acceleration when I dont have the traction control on. I also feel like the car is being robbed with the factory system. I think the Air Intake and Exhaust are preventing this car from using the full power that the engine is capable of. When I accelerate many times I get that high rev sound with no power to the wheels. I ride ATV's and typically from my experience from riding this is because the Air isnt able to come in fast enough or the exhaust cant leave fast enough. So overall the stock is much faster on the acceleration than my old civic but its still not at the level I am really after.

Gas Mileage: Right now since I can be a bit annoyed with other drives and the lack of acceleration and getting use to the car and best driving conditions I cant comment much on this. I know I have traveled around 60 miles so far all commuting and I am down 2 notches on the fuel gauge.

Noise: I have to say from being so use to my civic and how quiet the car exhaust was I am not use to the amount of noise from the exhaust. I also feel like Hyundai was trying to give the car a deeper throat noise for the kids who need that sound. Me I dont care about sound I care about efficiency.
Note on Noise: Perhaps in the near future when I have more cash I will try and have a professional installer do Dynamat for me throughout the interior compartment to give a much quieter and better interior sound quality. However I need to check on what warranties might be effected by this and try an ensure that I dont have to worry about my warranty. At a minimum I would like to have the Floor Dynalined with 1/2Inch to really take that exhaust sound away.

Sound / Navigation system: Holy Crap!
Sound: The sound system in the car is an infinity sound system with a great sound. Very clear and nice and if you like Base in this car and have a heavy base song the base will give you that feel without destroying sound quality. If your trying to cause the ground around you to vibrate and shake things up sorry buy a new system.
Navigation: This system is amazing. I have GPS on my phone, work blackberry, and a personal Garmin Navigation and all of them are horrible when compared to this system. It can tell exactly where my car is even when doing 80mph on the highway and it does a great job of locating me. The maps however are not the most up to date and there is no update for them at this time.
Other features of the sound and navigation: Bluetooth phone, USB playback - with a usb loaded up with music you can loose the expensive Ipods and buy some 16GB USB's loading them up with different music. Plug in and go. But Ipod connector is still there with AUX connector. The XM is nice but distracting I cant ever find music I want to hear on anything being broadcast so I constantly fiddle with it trying to find music.
Notes about the Navigation: I also have seen in a few Genesis owner forums a lot of questions about the car and the navigation system. I am a computer geek... I get paid the bucks to play with computers and hack so of course I was very interested in the system when I saw some of the posts that others put up.
Navigation Base Operating System: If you open up your manual of just take a few moments to plug a USB networking cable in with your linux system you will quickly find out this is Microsofts Automotive Embedded Operating System.
Not so fast I was really happy when I read this thinking OH YES time to modify... Well Microsoft put out a AUITK package that allows you to work with the Microsoft Automotive OS but its not free and even MSDN appears to require a specific purchase to fool with it. If you do get your hands on it be happy you can skin the entire OS and create a custom look and feel for your Navigation.
For Navigation maps and updates the Hyundai uses Mapnsoft.
However at this time no updates are out there for the GPS maps.

Overall thoughts:
I have to say I love this car overall its nice, professional looking but still sporty, has a lot of features, and fun to drive. I do recommend if the dealership offers GAP insurance you purchase it! GAP insurance for those whom aren't familiar is insurance in case you total this car. Its rear wheel drive and easy to get carried away driving it... If Insurance says this car is worth 23,000 and its totaled but you owe 28,000 no need to worry pay 750 dollars and the 5,000 you would owe is gone.
I would like more information on what is robbing my car of the power I think it deserves to be capable of but I upgraded my warranty to the 10 year 100k miles bumper to bumper including the navigation paint etc... So I don't want to void this warranty if I can help it.
