  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Android Auto support for Sonata but not Genesis?

Not grandfathering new features is not unheard of in the car industry just as it is not in others, especially with tech stuff. Retrofitting and back updating things can always introduce new issues and are sometimes ignored as the price of forward evolution in the car business. It would not be unusual for there not to be a straight forward manufacturer upgrade path for CarPlay when it finally does come to the Genesis. Has happened to all cars as new features come out, sometimes in between model years. Its also not unusual for the communication about these new features to be poorly handled - BMW and MB do it all the time.

As far as the Sonata getting stuff first, that may be pure economics - the Genesis while sort of a flagship, is not the sales machine the other lower priced cars are and the competition at that level is more intense.

I'm sorry . I'm new to the forums. I'm looking for answers on my particular question. I have posted a thread and looked through others and have not been able to find the information in seeking. If you could post a link to a thread that would help me in my search, I will gladly post there. 😁

No worries. You created your own thread with the issue, so you are already going in the right direction.

Guess I never paid heavy attention to this then. Thanks for the info.

Meh, I'm happy with what came in the car. Would not bother me one bit if other cars in the line up receive the Android system and Genesis does not.

Lower end models get new features first a lot of times, this isn't a Hyundai thing. In fact, if the Infiniti Q70 had the Q50 tech, I might have not looked at the Genesis at all. It takes a lot of time to integrate all of these features, and they try to take whatever is newest at the time for a model expected to last 5+ years. When they do a proper redesign of the Q70 and upgrade the electronics, it will be ahead of the Q50 again.

The current Sonata has a lot of Genesis tech in it. I can promise you if you drive one though, you will see where every last penny of the extra money goes on the Genesis. I had a loaded Sonata 2.0T Sport loaner while I got my windows tinted. You can see the family resemblence, but none of the polish is there. Let them get Android Auto first, work out the bugs, and then put a polished version in the Genesis a year later. I spend all day dealing with software bugs, I don't want to have to think about them while driving too!
