I have been reading this forum for 6 months and finally bought my 4.6 with tech two weeks ago. Love this car.

Amazing pictures, thanks for the posts. Any other modifications in store? Window tint perhaps on a black car looks sweet, as long as it's not too dark. Although, since it's winter, you may want to wait, till spring, depending on where you live.

Congratulations on your purchase! Looks fantastic, I agree with TJPark that a window tint would look stellar on that vehicle. I tinted my Sterling Blue 2010 and love it. Nice Photos. I have to get my photos up on the site.

Welcome to the pleasure that is owning a genesis, you will have plenty of fun times in your car, just be prepared for the following

1. People coming up to you asking you questions about your car, especially questions like 'what is that', 'is that a baby Bentley' and 'is that a Mercedes'
2. These questions will occur mostly at gas stations and when you valet your car.
3. People driving closely behind you on the highway or on your right and left blind spots. Don't be too alarmed, they are just checking out your car, specifically your rear emblem, this is normal behavior don't be too alarmed,lol
4. People at stop lights or while driving (believe me this has happened,lol) asking you to roll down your window to ask you a question on your car. It will freak you out when it happens while driving but thankfully it doesn't happen too often

About the adaptive cruise control, it is very very nice. When I decided to go with the tech package, it was mainly for the 17-speaker Lexicon. But now, I love the adaptive curise control which I use everyday becuase my daily commute is maily on the highway. The Auto-Hold is nice too but I do not use it very often. I mainly use it to impress other people. The only other car that I know of has auto-hold is Lexus LS 460.

I am seriously thinking about ceramic tint at this point. Something not too dark and not too light.

I already notice some drivers on the road or in a parking log showing some strange driving behaviors when they see my car. I remeber one time when I was in a big parking lot. I got into my car. Put my car to reverse. I saw a very nice MB just drove pass me and headed to the exit. I think it was a E class. I did not move my car until the MB fully passed me. I saw the couple in the MB looked at my car as they drove by. So I pulled out and drove right behind them to line up for the exit. All the suddent the MB decided not to drive to the exit. The man juse pulled to the right, went through a big empty park spaces and made a big loop just so that he could drive behind me!! I looked at the rear view mirror and the couple just staring at my wing badge at the back.

That's what I got on mine. 35% all the way around. Ceramic has some advantages, in that it blocks heat better than standard tint but not as well as metallic (without the radio interference issue). Also it appears darker from the outside looking in than vice versa. Of course you have to pay a premium for this. I live in LA, it's gonna be 83 degrees today, yikes!. If I lived in the northern part of the country I'd probably save the money and go with standard tint. Keep one thing in mind. The installation is more important than the tint being used. I too love the car but have a couple of dissappointments. I am very surprised the system does not transfer contact info from my blackberry to phone system and also the 6 disc CD player does not recognize CD titles or show songs and artists as they play on store bought CDs? Also the GPS system is not of the same quality as my 07 Caddy DTS?

Wish there were some way to upgrade this?

I have found that winter is the best time to get a tint job. Many tint shops offer a winter discount, and they will be less rushed and do a better install job.

Maybe the only exception would be if you live some place where it is very cold and almost almost always overcast/wet during the winter, so that it would take longer for the film to dry.

Thanks for the link to that thread. It sure is long but very helpful. I have decided to go with Ceramic, 35%-50% all the way around plus sunroof. Hope I can find time to get this done before Christmas.

Most reliable place has been Ebay. There are several retailers on that site that can get you either the back, or both, or the whole kit and any variation. Check it out...

I agree with 30% all around. It looks nice, not too dark, and you can see out of it just fine, even with the window shade up. It even is fine at night, with the shade, and the electrochromatic mirror dimming.
