  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Any 2012 V6 owners wish they went Rspec?

Scott do...new picture? Very flattering. As to the HP's issue( doesn't appear to really be a 6 vs 8 discussion) seems to perhaps be HP envy (Substitute any word you choose for HP). The RSpec takes me to palace I want to be in terms of performance, handling, appointments and value.

Obviously that is a place where spelling does not count.

Love my V6. All the power I'll ever need, great gas mileage and money back to boot. Does it get any better ? :)

I agree with Waki. Besides, my male member is big enough, thank you very much V8lovers.

I thought all the anatomy lessons for the day were in that other thread??
:p

Interesting how many replies to this question are from V8 owners justifying their purchase.

Since most of the comments on the 6 v 8 have been about gas mileage I thought my real-world example of R-Spec mileage might make a difference for someone sitting on the fence.

Also, for me anyway, it wasn't about gas mileage. It was about ride. Most of the comments I read about the R-Spec before I drove one were that it was a rough ride. Not so. At least to me. I thought others might like to know.

Just trying to help here. ;)

Kind of disappointed. Checking to see what the '12 3.8 might be worth on Edmunds.com on a R-Spec or ? I paid $35k on a $40k car and it's valued at $25k with 11k miles. I thought this thing would hold it's value alot better than that! 8(

Yeah I paid 42k for my v6 and already it's worth 22k. 20,000 dollars gone already in one year? I guess that's why they have "Hyundai Assurance" to get you to purchase another Hyundai and not have negative equity.

Yupp the v6 don't seem to hold value like the v8. Even a 09 4.6 in my area is still like $25,000+ where as an 09 v6 is around $18,000. My friend's mom just picked up a 2012 v6 with around 12,000 miles for $24,000

Try again, you are coming up with bad numbers at both ends. You and I have the same vehicle, except for the colors. Edmunds says the private sale value is estimated at over $29,000 for our model. I paid $36,700 for my car almost one year ago. That amount included the tax too. Did you really pay $42 thou for yours? If so, you paid full window price. No wonder you are in a hole.

No, that was the lesson for a previous day. Is human anatomy embarrassing? ^^

Well I had negative equity on my other vehicle as well which was $3,000. I understand that private party is more then what a dealership trade in value would pay you which was 22k when i was looking at a Lexus GS that's what they would pay for it.

I totally agree with your comment on the R-Spec ride. However for a year, others' incessant references to negative ride quality or comments (by proxy) of what auto magazine reviewers have said about ride quality keep getting repeated here. Fact is, the ride is not rough. It is firm and controlled. But over certain surfaces, it is not as composed as some cars costing $40,000 more. With the arthritis in my spine, if the ride was rough, I could not ride in the car, let alone own it.

When I did a 5,000 mile review on the R-Spec here, one if the things I mentioned was that on the day of our test drive of both a 2012 V6 and R-Spec within 10 minutes of each other, we picked the R-Spec in part because we agreed the ride was quieter and the handling in general was more stable. My wife never said rough or firm or anything like that. Of course I had to control the sxxt-eat'n grin on my face when she asked if I liked what was under the hood.
:D

Nope. Very happy with the 333 hp V6. :D

For the quite insignificant fuel consumption penalty with the R-Spec, I was not willing to risk regret. Kind of like the difference between a beautiful woman in conservative business attire and a beautiful woman in a slit dress and high heals with sculpted arms and a racy look in her eye.

^ What he said! ;)

Personally, I don't understand the negative comments about the RSpec's ride being too rough or firm. I of course drove the several non-RSpecs prior to my decision to go RSpec, and to be honest I did not care for the somewhat vague (to me) road-feel. While the sedan could never be an F1 racecar in terms of handling, to me the RSpec is just the right blend of road-feeback and comfort. And the RSpec's tighter responsivness at the steering wheel makes for very effortless cornering, and braking is clearly superior to me. Zero regret going RSpec for a bit more money (relatively) and one MPG less.

I never considered preowned when I bought my 2012. I paid about $8000 below the sticker price Roughly 3000 more than I would've gotten a 2011. The upgrades in appearance and performance make that 2012 worth quite a bit more for me over a 2011. I think given the level of the discounts and the benefits of buying a 2012 5.0 or the new V6 make it very tough to sell a pre 2012. The good news is these cars are worth keeping for a while. The other factor is the warranty issue when you buy preowned. I made peace with the idea that I should drive the car for at least five years and then pass it down to a family member for it to be worth the money.
