  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Golf is my hobby. I love it, live it, teach it, and play it any day that I can.

Since this is a forum for OFF TOPIC discussions I figured this would be a great place to talk about Golf as well.

If any of you share this passion please shout back!

Tell me the best courses you've played!
What brand of clubs you use...etc...

It is obvious I am a PING guy, and the best course I have played is Ross Bridge in Birmingham, AL. I have travelled to mostly all of the Robert Trent Jones courses but I still lack a few. I teach golf to kids and play in the freezing cold! My handicap is between an 8-10.

If there is nobody here I will silently hold my passion in the trunk of my GENESIS!

HA!;)

Anywho, thought I would give it a try! Have a great day everybody!

Matt

Golfing is for losers.... j/k Hahah!!! :D

Not me but I'm sure there are a TON of golfers around here...

I don't get out very often these days since I rekindled a lifelong passion for boating by buying a lake home a few years ago, but I'll always enjoy golfing. I'm using TaylorMades right now, with a handicap in the low teens (and climbing, no doubt), and I've had the good fortune to play courses like Pebble Beach, St. Andrews, Royal Troon, etc. by virtue of schmoozing customers on my employer's dime. Now I just take the boat over to a local course with dock service and take a few whacks now and then. If the world economy doesn't collapse utterly, I hope to retire in a few years and get back on the links several times a week.

Musher...

I'm drooling here!!! I was not expecting that!!!

I thought I did good to shell out $120 for a round at Ross Bridge...:)

HA!

Greetings from Ontario, Canada. We won't be playing much golf up here for the next few months, but that will give me a reason to take my Genesis V6 w/tech on a road trip. Will probably head back to Hilton Head in January. Played Harbour Town when we were there 2 years ago - it's a great course.

If you are looking for a reason to take a road trip next summer, point your Genesis north and head for Mt. Tremblant, just north of Montreal in Quebec. There are five great courses in the immediate area. Mt. Tremblant was a fading ski resort until Intrawest bought the place back in the 90's. More than a billion dollars later things have changed quite a bit. They've created a french alps kind of village at the base of the ski hill and turned the place into a major resort. Google Mt. Tremblant golf and check it out.

I play Taylormade clubs/driver with an Odysey putter. Handicap around 12.

I live in the golfing capitol of the world and hate it, plus Im too young

oK....I had to bump this one..

As my username implies....I am a PING guy. Well, I have taken notice that Taylormade is outperforming every other company on the PGA Tour. Now, Im kinda curious to try some out.

I am looking at the Taylormade Burner Tour irons and the R7 TP irons. Have any of you played either one or know someone who does? I'd love some feedback but I do understand that this is a car forum and not a golf forum. Sorry if I wasted your time. :)

BTW....Supposedly, Tiger is back today!!! Im a Stewart Cink fan since he is from Muscle Shoals (about 30 min. away), but I find Tiger is an amazing golfer to watch. Everytime he makes a move I think to myself that I am witnessing history in the making...and I LOVE IT!

LOVE GOLF!! I don't play it enough, but I get out as much as I have time for.

I use King Cobra II's. I like them a lot, but what I don't like about them is if you don't hit the sweet spot on the irons, the shot doens't go nearly as far and actually hurts your hands. Hit it in the sweet spot and it feels amazing and the ball goes like hell. :)

Well, I have taken notice that Taylormade is outperforming every other company on the PGA Tour.
Are you talking about the drivers or the irons? I didn't know the irons were that popular. The drivers have just about always been number one on tour ever since everyone went to metal.

The irons. I have a friend who is currently at the IMG Academy in Florida (golf school) and he tells me that out of all the golfers 90% of them use TM Drivers and Irons. He said the most popular irons are the Tour Burner irons and the R7 TP irons.

Tiger beat Jones yesterday and he's looking good!

Another Golfer here. Live in Seattle, WA so it's pretty wet in the winter/spring. Starting to get nice enough now to really enjoy a day out on the links. I've played two rounds so far this year and those courses were a bit soggy to be honest.

The nicest/most favorite course Ive played is Newcastle (newcastlegolf.com). They have two 18's, China Creek and Coal Creek. Both provide breathtaking views overlooking Seattle and the Puget Sound. The greens are meticulously kept and you are hard pressed to find friendlier staff.

I play with Nickent 3DX Irons (designed by John Hoeflich). I think Nickent might just be the Hyundai of the golf equipment world. Very competitive pricing, good quality, and building a solid reputation but still relatively unknown. I use a Nickent PIPE putter too. A Nike Sasquatch driver, Ben Hogan 2 Iron Hybrid, 3 wood that I hate so much it will remain nameless round out my bag.

Speaking of bags I am pretty sure the Genesis trunk will hold at least three without issue. Maybe 4 (My '02 Sonata fit 3 easily).

Thats about it :)

PINGGOLF,

I myself am a GOLF nut!!!! Been playing for 15 years!
My handicap was at 1.2 5 years ago and is now at 4.2. Trust me when I tell you that the TM irons have been probably the best irons I've ever used! BUT, they now belong to my son (14 years old) who plays on the Quebec junior circuit. His handicap is now 4.

Do yourself a favor and at least try them out. You will not regret it!
I have since gone to Callaway irons and they're close but they ain't no TM.
I also have Titleist Limited Edition 731PM iron's...I'm getting older and you must hit the sweet spot all the time with them or else you'll pay!
I'm now playing with forgiving irons and IMO EVERYONE should too!

Being in Montreal...not playing much golf in the past few months...actually NONE! Dam snow...hate it!!!!

Golf on...
Can't wait to put the golf clubs in my soon to arrive Genesis and go play a round of golf with my buddies!

I just purchased a 2009 used genesis and have just discovered this forum. I retired 4 years ago and golf is my job now. I highly recommend retirement for helping your handicap. Mine went from 6 to 1. I live just south of Charlotte NC and just got back from playing in the Pinehurst area. My bag is an assortment: Callaway FT-3 driver, Exotics 3&5 wood, Adams 3&4 hybrid, Ping I3 irons, Titleist Vokey PW, 52& 58 degree wedges, and 2 ball putter. Favorite courseis Old Course at St. Andrews.

On another note. My Genesis is due for 15K service. I called 3 local dealers. I got a price of $160 from one $180 from the second and $380 from the third. They all told me what the service included. The high priced one said it included checking the fuel induction. I don't know what that is and could find no mention of it in any of the owner manuals. He also said that the other dealers would probably recommend this service once I got there as it is recommended every 12 months. Either he is full of crap or very honest and the other dealers are low balling to get the work in their shop where they will try to upsell. I would appreciate any advice on this and on having future recommended service at the dealership.

I have a pair of PING i3 knock offs!!!! I've that them for 10 years! They were custom made for me with stiff rifle shaft and softie grips. I used to be around a 10 handicap but now I'm shooting in the low 90's..... kind of sucks actually. I hope to hit the links hard this year while work is super slow.

My advice (for any car) is to forget about the xx,xxx mile service packages. Just look in the owners manual to see what needs to be replaced.

Obviously you need to change the oil every so often and maybe 15,000 miles would be your second oil change that is due. If you don't take it to a dealer for an oil change then make sure you have a Hyundai OEM filter with you because oil change places are unlikely to have it. I would recommend a synthetic oil if you plan on keeping the car for awhile. The most economical way to get a synthetic oil change is purchase the oil at Walmart in a 5 quart jug and give it to person changing your oil.

At 15K miles you may need to replace the air filter (you can do this yourself with a filter from the parts dept). I don't recall if anything else needs changing at 15,000 miles, but forget about the package deals.
