  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Any of you have a headliner/sunroof noise issue?

+1 on this - no regrets on mine either. Had a guy next to me the other week roll down his window to ask what type of car it was and to tell me how much he liked it. Doubt if that happens a lot with many of the G70 competitors ... (well maybe the Alfa)

thats good! any headliner noise complaints on your end?

Nothing that I’ve noticed. Driving the same 3.3T Sport that others have had the issue on. Either I got lucky, it hasn’t come up yet, or I play the stereo too loud ...

Well that's good to know that some of you haven't experienced any, and I hope you dont! lol

G70 3.3t sport. Delivered in july 2018. No rattle noises. Tight fit all over. Hope the fix is simple once they know what they are doing.

Un séjour sans faille; problème de toit résolu par Beauport Hyundai..Merci

I just got my 3.3T AWD Prestige last week and it almost immediately started having the headliner rattle issue. Did anyone get an actual fix from a service department? Has Genesis of America or Canada offered any guidance to dealerships?

I had a weird rattle coming from the rear that sounded like it was coming from where the headliner meets the rear windshield. I removed the dealer rear plate frame and so far the rattle is gone. Could be due to the warmer temps today but I am really hoping it was the frame. Just a suggestion for those who hear rattles from the rear, check your plates if you only have the top 2 screws and tighten them or add some foam stripping if needed.

I got my car about 2 months ago and it's really annoying (something is wrong with the clip i think). I went to the service centre and because I'm the first one, they don't know what to do.
t's an issue in korea and the people who were in charge of sunroof/headliner would come and fix it for them but I don't know what they will do in here.

I doubt they will do that, and according to people who had this problem it would make the noise again and again (unless they change the whole headliner).
I'm just scared because the mechanic said he had never done this type of fixing ( i hope it doesnt get worse).
anyways I'll see how it goes and tell you guys the results!
I have a similar issue with my 2018 G80. Had/have popping noises on any road imperfection which are louder with the sunshade open. I'm on my 3rd visit to the dealer for a fix and this time they took the headliner down. I'm hoping the issue is resolved and not worse, but won't know until I get my car back -- it's been at the dealer for almost 3 weeks for the headliner/roof issue and wheel vibration (tires being swapped out now).

Any luck getting this fixed?

Similar issue here. Bought my 3.3 Sport in January. Have a slight but annoying rattle in the sunroof, rear passenger corner. Mostly, but not completely gone with the sunshade closed. When I bring a passenger to help troubleshoot it seems to happen far less. Maybe the extra weight helps?

Mine still has a rattle when it warms up a bit. I don't hear it as much when it's really cold out. I'm planning on asking them to look at it during my first service next month. I did still hear it pretty clearly with 4 people in the car so I don't think it's a weight thing.

I also noticed I can kind of recreate the sound by pressing on a certain part of the headliner hard enough. It sounds to me like the suede headliner isn't fully connected/glued to the backing material and it's rubbing together.

Thanks maszpiwo and good luck. It's been below freezing all week here in the NY area, funny, the rattle (for me it's not a rubbing noise, definitely more like a loose plastic part tapping against metal) is most pronounced after the cabin is warmed up.

Either way, checking out older posts on other websites the solution seems clear: have the headliner taken out, inspect/replace loose clips or add foam padding. I'm just not ready to let my Hyundai dealer or anyone else do that to yet, too worried it will create other problems.

By rubbing I meant it sounds like 2 pieces of plastic clicking together, so probably a similar sound to what you're hearing. If I press up on the passenger side headliner the noise will go away, so I'm guessing it's a loose clip or something that lets the headliner bounce a bit and hit the material above it.

I have a headliner noise as well in my 2018 G80 V8. I press gently against the headliner where it meets the driver window and the noise stops. I took it to the closest dealer and they said "it's considered normal noise". They did the same thing with a different issue. Will not be going back there. Trying another dealer that seems more caring in a few weeks. It appears to be common issue.

So all these different noise issues, not sure mine is similar. When cruising off throttle between 40-45 mpg, I hear a squeaky noises when the car goes over road bumps. Like metal on metal rubbing squeak. Could this be a metal clip rubbing over bumps? I can now hear it through my music and only between those speeds. Also got to deal with steering wheel leather cover threads coming apart. Other than that, a solid and fun car!

That sounds a little different. Does it sound like it's coming from the roof? This noise issue is pretty clearly from the headliner and makes a plastic clicking/rattling sound. I can also hear it on or off throttle and most speeds.

It's from the drivers side door, maybe roof area. Going to try and listen closer. Just annoying.

So is it confirmed that the headliner issue is specific to having the sunroof and/or the microfiber suede headliner? I have the 3.3T advanced so I have neither option, wondering if it's something I should be looking out for in the future. Almost 3 months of ownership and it's dead quiet in my cabin.

I have the alcantara headliner and a sunroof...zero issues.

To add...there’s construction around my house so I’m constantly on uneven pavement. Bumpy or not...all good.

I have the sunroof and the microfiber suede liner. My car is two months old with no noise at all.

After 3 visits to the dealer for this issue, it's still not resolved. I've delayed going back to the dealer again because I wanted some wheel time with MY car! Before I take it in again, I will ask the dealer and/or Genesis what they plan on doing differently during the next visit.
