I have 2009 3.8L Tech package with 273000KM's ( approx. 170000 miles) and I am the original owner. I really love the car but have been plagued by a few issues over the years.
Here's a list of issues I've had.
1) Telescoping steering switch replaced twice within warranty. Stopped working again out of warranty. Have not fixed it again.
2) Windshield wiper linkage seized up. This was due to parking under a maple tree for years and some of the keys that drop from the tree got stuck in the linkage and rusted it out over time.Replacement was $700.00 CDN installed.
3) Reverse Camera failed just out of warranty . Dealer wanted $500.00 for a new one. Found the exact one on eBay for 120.00 and replaced it myself. The replacement has since failed again but I have not replaced it yet.
4) Took it in for the CEL coming on and the dealer ended up having to replace the timing chains, gears, tensioner, cam shafts (due to change up cam gear/VVT design), along with the cam sensor, crank sensor and OCV. They also replaced the oil pump due to a low oil pressure light at idle that stared AFTER the timing chain/gears etc where changed (pressure was down about 3-4 PSI only at idle). That did not solve the problem. Turns out putting in 10W30 instead of 5W20 solved the low pressure at idle situation. Cost $3700.00 !!!
I have done synthetic oil (5W20) changes every 10-12000 KMs with OEM filters.
I have replaced the pads/rotors all around twice now. I am on my second set of summer tires and about to buy my second set of winters.
Coolant was flushed at around 150000Kms.
I also had them replace the
spark plugs when they where doing the timing work. The was $420.00. I took a look at the old
plugs and I think they could have gone another 50-100000Km's. Damn Iridiums are expensive , plus the fact the intake plenum has to come off. What a stupid design. LOL.
So thats a bit of the history of my car. Even though this last bill was pretty big, I still love the car. I feel like it fits me like a glove. LOL.
