  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Anybody else get annoyed by this? (both taillights on instrument panel light)

The light is a good thing and I don't see it as an item that needs to be fixed.

The light comes on for the headlights and tailights. It is typically considered a light for your headlights (the S. Korean translation in the manual doesn't quite state it correctly). The second light is for the fog lights.

If you leave your lights on Auto as most people do and you don't have a light that tells you they are on how are you to know when the lights are on at dusk, dawn, when it's raining, etc... And if you are a good driver and by some state laws depending you must drive with your lights on in those situations. In which case a lot of people forget to turn them off. With the Genesis you will be saved a dead battery as the car will automatically shut them off anyway but you could be cycling the battery more then necessary.

On the lack of dimming. I could see that as being a nice feature but it will not happen with a software update because it would need a change of hardware to make the light dimmable.

As for the car not reminding people to turn off their turn signal. You are still driving the automobile which is a few thousand pounds of metal. This is an item which can at a moments notice kill you, your occupants and the people around you. It is the drivers responsibility to drive the car, not the cars responsibility. So pay attention. Scan the road, use the turn signal and turn it off your self. The moment that cars do indeed drive themselves and we relinquish all control, great! Untill then turn off the phone, scan the road around you, be curtious to other drivers, drive when the light turns green and turn off the bloody turn signal after you have changes lanes. Is it really that hard to remember?

Sorry for the rant, but the things I have seen on the road would amaze. I have actually seen someone read music while playing a guitar while driving!

Hear, hear, Considering!

And I thought crimping one's eyelashes while driving took the biscuit! (No, it wasn't me! :p)

I think Hyundai mis-labeled this light. It should have been called a "Headlights On" light as that is the purpose it serves for me...with the headlight switch in Auto position at dusk, the only way to know if your headlights have come on is to see the dashboard light go on. I like it but agree it is way too bright.

A more accurate name for this light would be "Parking Light Indicator" as it actually comes on with your parking lights and remains on while your headlights are on. But most of us never turn just our parking lights on, so we associate this light with our headlights.

This is a common indicator light in Asia, so my guess is that they just didn't change it for the US market and left it "as-is". Given the choice between looking at the light and just getting over it or having the price of the vehicle increased to accommodate the US market, my vote would be to just leave it alone. After a couple of months you won't even notice it any longer.

Geez, why not just settle on "lights on" does it matter if it is front or rear? I toggled my foglamp on and off to confirm the 2nd indicator. The green lighting is consistent with the cruise on/set indicators.

I think these items are bright for a reason, if you could dim them down with the instrument cluster it could be considered a safety concern.

I checked last night. I don't have any red tail light indicator. I have some other problems that maybe electrical. Two weeks ago my dealer promised to fix my voice button on the steering wheel in to days. Still not fixed. Also maybe USB.

V8, with everything, including 14.5 mpg

The "Tail Light Indicator" is green. Its the little green light that comes on when you turn your headlights on. Only, it actually comes on when you turn your parking lights on (but most people associate that light with the headlights rather than the parking lights b/c most people don't just turn on their parking lights so they see the light when they turn their headlights on).

I'm surprised no one mentioned the cruise control indicator which is the same TOO BRIGHT green and doesn't dim with the rest of the panel lights. It bothers me enough that I'm going to apply some of that static window tint film over the gauges to dim it. If I could find the circuit it was on I'd love to add a resistor. It obviously isn't inline with the others that do dim.
