  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

My GV70 has about 2300 miles on it and I’ve already noticed several rattles.
  • One in the headliner above the driver side window
  • One in the passenger side door
  • One in the headliner above the light/sunroof controls
  • One in the passenger seat headrest
  • One coming somewhere from the rear area
I’m disappointed by the number of rattles I’m experiencing already. I shouldn’t have to blast music all the time to drown them out. We have a 2018 Mazda CX-5 which has zero rattles even over bumps/potholes. My last car, a 2012 Ford Fusion, didn’t start experiencing rattles till around 120k miles.

Has anyone else experienced similar issues?

My eGV70 has a rattle in the steer wheel (most noticeable when the safety features vibrate or when you tap the wheel with your hand). Sounds like a loose or broken tab to me. Since my car was already in for repairs, I asked for them to review it.

Other than that, nothing from any of the other areas that you mentioned for me yet.

Are the noises still present after the car has been in the hot sun for several hours? That stinks about the rattles. I also have a CX-5 and have zero noises. I thought I once had a rattle, but then discovered it was the rear seat belt hitting the side. I forgot to tuck it in the holder after putting the seat back up.

Unfortunately most of them seem to occur randomly. The one in the headliner above the sunroof controls is constant, but the others are off and on. I have an appointment scheduled in July to have the rattles addressed as well as some other issues I’ve noticed.

Same for me , I have random rattle noise coming from the passenger door and the door in the back on passengers side. I was trying to determine where the noise is coming from but it’s hard I noticed that even if the noise it’s coming from the trunk, the open cabin will act like an amplifier. Sometimes I just knock the plastic from the seatbelt , the one that secured it to the car body and goes away.Make sure you have nothing in the doors’s storage space since in my case I notice that it does generate the noise also. In general there is a lot of vibration in the car body and I guess it’s a design issue , I also notice that when my wife sits on the passenger sit and holds her purse on her lap , if by any chance the purse touches the door the handles from her purse starts to rattle like crazy …

My headliner was rattling on my GV70 ev in the back on the passenger side. I pressed on it firmly and felt something pop into place. I’m guessing it just didn’t get installed correctly. No rattles since then (knock on wood).

We bought two 2023 GV70 Sport Prestige in late February. One had NO rattles. Mine had one, which only happened when going over bumps in the road. Since I rarely have any passengers in my car, I was convinced it was in the headliner. Then one day, I had a passenger in the car and going over the same bumps there weren't any noises. When I got home that night, I got in the front passenger seat and bounced up and down. Rattle has been gone since. Clearly there was something in the front passenger seat, which wasn't seated properly. But bouncing on it, fixed it. Since then, there are zero rattles in my car on even the most bumpy roads. The thing with rattles is they're tricky to find and as my experience shows, aren't where you thought they were to begin with.

Just last week, all of a sudden, I had a rattle that was coming from the rear passenger side. Driving me crazy. Looked in the door. Thought it was the seatbelt. it lasted for about a week.
Finally realized the rattle was coming from a small umbrella that was in the rear pocket holder. The handle was rattling against the back plastic seatback. Problem solved. Sometimes, the rattles are coming from something stupid like that. Hopefully, that's all that is.

Nothing much - the rattle above the side windows for me appears to be the handle above the window that helps you get in and out. If I just pull on it for a second and reseat the handle, the rattle stops.

Zero rattles so far. This has been the most problem free car we have owned....plenty of miles to go of course....but thumbs up to Genesis.

Since finding the source of the one rattle in my GV70 and making it go away, easily both of our 2023 GV70s are simply AWESOMELY FANTASTIC cars. Both now have about 3K miles, so still early, but absolutely NO issues at all. Love them, MIGHTILY!

No rattles. I'm really impressed with the solidity of my GV70. My reference vehicles are 4 BMW's that I've owned prior to the Genesis.

We have also owned 4 different BMW's. We often commented that they were built like a bank vault. After 100K plus miles they remained as solid as day 1. I can only hope the GV70 is at least similarly as strong after that much use. The one thing that can never be as good though is the engine. BMW engines are just the best. We'll see...

I figured out that the most noticeable rattle from under the headliner started when I had to get my windshield replaced, so that isn’t as much a Genesis problem as it is a Safelite problem.

One of the others comes from the passenger side headrest when no one is in the seat. I found that putting the headrest all the way down gets rid of it. Still weird that it’s necessary to do that.

The only other major one that I haven’t been able to figure out is coming from the rear hatch. I bang around but I don’t hear anything and obviously I can’t sit back there while I’m driving the car.

I will see what the dealership says at my appointment Monday.

Similar situation - had a rattle coming from the back on the driver's side. thought it might be the roll up window blind, but it was tight. A couple of weeks ago I was vacuuming the back and noticed that the bottom of the rear seat was unclipped. Popped it back in and now have silence.

That's the thing about rattles. A car is like an anechoic chamber and it's hard to know exactly where a sound is coming from. What I thought was a headliner rattle turned out to be the front passenger seat.

I'm glad you found the source of yours and it's gone!

  • One in the headliner above the light/sunroof controls
Had that in my Mazda CX9. Turned out to be a pair of glasses in the sunglass holder.

The "panic handle" above the driver's side seat has a very small rattle in it sometimes...I just pull the handle down and release it again and it goes away.
