  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I'm thinking about getting a ceramic tint job down on the Genesis 35%. Anyone else do this? Pics?

According to Google, there are 568 posts about tinting on genesisowners.com, but those are probably just fakes.

That's a good one, Mark! :D

Yes, it's pretty much necessary with the climate in Texas (as I would imagine it would be in Alabama). Mine is ceramic, 30 percent if I remember correctly:

Nice.... Does ceramic block efficiency of radar detectors? Want to use the same treatment on the Ultimate.

That's actually a great question! I honestly can't objectively answer it; I usually get tint done before my radar detector hard-wire is done. It might explain the differences in sensitivity that you and I see while running a very similar detector setup (pretty much an inverse in detector sensitivity between the V1 and the Passport Max2).

I just got mine done last week. I went with 5% all around and 15% on the windshield. I'll post some pictures tonight. Dark windows always compliment a white car IMO.

Can't wait for pictures, thats what i plan on getting. Except I'm only doing 35 on the windshield (what i get on all my cars )

Do you have the ultimate? If so, does it affect the HUD?

I have a 5.0 but it is not the ultimate. I have never noticed much difference with respect to my radar detector though.

Ceramic is completely safe for all electronics etc. That's a bonus for this film since it has the highest heat rejection properties of any film on the market. Prior to ceramic film, a metallic film was the best at heat rejection, but when cars started getting stuffed with electronics, the metallic film started causing problems. I just tinted my 1st car with a ceramic film 35%. The 35% ceramic blocks as much heat as a standard carbon film in 70%, which is another reason this film became so popular because a dark film is no longer required in order to block a lot of heat.

I tinted my windshield on my ultimate and the HUD works fine.

That depends on several factors one of which is location.

Here in Jacksonville Fl tint is cheaper, likely because more people do it, then it was in North Dakota where I used to live.

I paid about $200 for all of it with high quality ceramic with a 5 inch strip at the top of my windshield, if I wanted I could have had the entire windshield tinted with a lighter % for probably $20-40 more.

NoDac to Jacksonville. I'm guessing Air Force? In any case, that's quite a climate adjustment.

Air Force 20 years ago, no didn't stay in, and No never stationed in Fl.
I had never been east of the Missisippi Until 07 at that time my brother bought a pickup in pittsburg and we then decided to explore the east a little, ended up in the jacksonville area and fell in love with the beach and the ocean.

@ 2011: That is a very nice looking ride...
