  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Anyone Tint Their Genesis?

No Problem! I should be getting new skins on my Saturday, then we'll have to try the wet roads again! ;)

I put my stock wheels/original tires back on so the 235/50 that are about 70% worn out are back on they really don't do that well anytime, lol

I did not do the windshield, but did the rest of my Empire Grey with ceramic at 35%, which is right about the legal limit in WI. Cops here have nothing better to do in the decent neighborhoods except write tickets to generate revenue, so it is not a good idea to go too dark. My tint guy said that metallic causes too much interference on newer cars.

Finally some pictures of mine - 5% everywhere and 15% on windshield.

I'll get some pics of mine and post them soon. I did 35% ceramic tint on mine on Monday. Looks great!

30% Ceramic on the 4 doors and small opera window, nothing on rear glass.

Getting mine tinted on Saturday. At this point, I'm thinking of going 20% all around.

Anyone else go 20% all the way around and have pics? Bonus points if it's an Empire State Gray as that's what I have.

Are you aware of the tint laws for Nebraska? Some places enforce them, and some don't, but you should probably know that before you decide.

Yes I believe they are 35% on the front and 20% on the backs and rear window.

With that being said, they don't enforce it much here at all.

Do you guys have an awful glare through your tinted rear windows at night?
Headlights behind me light up a vertical path from the top to the bottom of the window, it is really distracting in the rear view mirror.
I am not sure if that is normal for a 2015, or if I have a crappy tint job. It was the tint installed by the dealer. It looks great from the outside though.

There are a lot of different kinds of tint films. How it looks, how it deflects heat, how it handles glare, etc are all dependent on the type of film.

For example, there are dyed films, carbon films, metallic films, ceramic films, etc. All of these films have significantly different characteristics (and prices).

Also, it takes at least a week for the tint film job to cure (completely dry out) and could sometimes take longer.

FF4ZRA: I would call dealer and find out who installed the tint....I would contact them about the glare and see if they could help.
By the way your car looks great :=)

I use to travel to an area here in Northeast Ohio that loves to pull people over for window tint(I got two tickets from them with my old car) so I decided to do 45/30.

This is indoors

This is the only outdoor one I got in PhotoBucket

I did mine 30% front/5% rear (to keep it legal) the morning after I took it home - essential #1 practical and looks mod for me. Aesthetically and in terms of heat prevention, I'm jealous of people who get to tint the front windshield, but I can't imagine driving at night looking through tint.
