  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Today I bid Farewell to my 3.8 Genesis tech package seen in my profile. Fellow Forum member CharlieEcho has purchased my car. Will everyone please bid Charlie a congratulations in owning a wonderful vehicle. My sights are now set on the 2011 Hyundai Equus.

Glad your 3.8 is staying in the family!

Sorry to see you go. Hopefully you stay in the forum by getting the new Equus! :)
Congrats to our new member!

Dan

Congratulations, CharlieEcho!

Mr. Phantom - you may be our first Equus owner! It'll be very interesting to know your feelings about it coming out of a Genesis...

CNBC just announced that Hyundai was closing the Equus assembly line because they only had one buyer. Sorry Mr. Phantom, maybe you can buy your old car back--

Don't you hate it when that happens???

Doh!

I would imagine this late in the game and with that much advertising CNBC if they really did report this, reported it in error. I have searched the CNBC site and have found no such article. I will let you guys know if I do get the Equus. That is a big investment, but I have a couple of months to save up for the down payment. If I do find that I don't like it, believe that I will get a 4.6 2011 Genesis, already have the Asanti AF 122 rims picked out, the woodgrain interior to replace the leather and the air suspension on hold from Streetbeats. No point in doing it if you can't do it big. I wonder if I can get a million miles on the Genesis...

Yep- CNBC just confirmed it. Mercedes and Toyota's (Lexus) stock are up 4% this morning. Oprah also commmented on the story. She was going to get some of her audience. Sorry Mr. Phantom.

Ahh, trolls are always fun.

Daimler AMG (Mercedes is a brand, not a company) - up 0.22%

Toyota Motor (Lexus) up 0.73%

Hyundai Motor up 0.37%

Also, CNBC doesn't run programming on Sunday, as all financial markets are closed. I'm pretty sure you weren't hearing about Equus cancellations from Ron Popeil's piatch for some kitchen appliance.

Finally, Google News and Autoblog are your friend:

Or as they say on other boards, "whoosh"! Meaning something went over someone's head, ala Flyboy's tongue-in-cheek posts.

Wasn't it P. T. Barnam who said, "There's a sucker born every minute"?

Oh, I could tell the sarcasm. The poster above me didn't seem to, as he actually went looking for the story on CNBC.

Well I keep up with my own threads and like to see what is going on. I believe the Hyundai brand is coming up very fast and I'm very excited about all the changes that they are making. I think I have a thread I'm about to start based on that idea.

Let me give you some advice. A car is not an investment.

Sure it is - it beats Madoff (only loses 30% in value the second the tires hit the street in front of the dealership).:D

Let me give you some advice. A car is not an investment.

Opportunity cost always is an investment. The money I spend on the car could be spent somewhere else. The car pays me back in starting every month to allow me to make money, in peace of mind when I take my family vacation every year. Then every day when you get into your car and you feel good, there is nothing else that replaces that. I am a car enthusiast though. So the small things pay me back about my vehicle. The reason I say it is a big investment is because I believe I can get that same enjoyment out of another Genesis.

And don't forget that once that sucker is paid off you have a that money in hand every month.
