If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

The Genesis Bluetooth Audio ECHO Issue Discussion

Count me in on this list also for a 2024 Model.

Curious, do those with wireless CarPlay adapters have this issue or is it limited to those using cables CarPlay?

I’m hoping the wireless dongle could be a workaround for now?

I think Genesis Infotainment systems are handled and tested by a third party just like BMW and other ORMs so I don’t actually see a Genesis wireless CarPlay option coming to current models but newer models will have it like the refreshed 2025 GV70?

This issue looks like it's a generic carplay problem, irrespective you use wireless dongle or wired carplay.

True! I think it's only for the CCNC infotainment they'll have wireless carplay option. The refreshed GV80 has it, looks like once they move onto the single large display, the design language Hyundai seems to be taking, they'll incorporate wireless carplay/aa onto that.

I wonder who Hyundai/ Kia / Genesis uses for infotainment systems?

In NJ there was a third party company who does all BMW infotainment is why I ask as it’s not in house

Quick update, I submitted a support request to Genesis and received this response:

----------------------
At this time, Genesis is aware of the reported concern and is working on a fix that will be released soon.

For the time being we recommend reducing the volume to 20 while using car play or using Bluetooth to do hands-free calls, as there is not an ability to revert to a previous update version.
----------------------

I then asked if they post known issues like this somewhere so owners can see that Genesis is aware of it and this was their response:

I have a wireless CarPlay adapter, echo is still there with and without it.

Having the exact same issue. Was fine until I updated the AVN today. It’s not Bluetooth related. I figured out a long time ago when using CarPlay to not connect to Bluetooth so phone is not paired. THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS ISSUE FOR ME. I love by Genesis but such is enough for me to walk away and go back to Audi. I’m an executive and spend many hours behind the wheel on my phone. PLEASE resolve this issue!

Exact same issue. Horrible.

I have the wireless CarPlay adapter and am having the same issue. I never had any issues until the software update about a month ago. Super frustrated.

I have a 2022 GV70. Same echo issue. I was also an early electronic llimited slip differential owner and it took a year for them to acknowledge and fix it. The offered $900 compensation then at the last second when I agreed, the sent a legal document to sign that would have removed my entire warranty and I told them to F Off. They refused to provide the $$ without. I do love my car but Genesis Corporate had Zero integrity. I retain all communications with them. Shamefull.

Make sure each time they replace a part you save the service slips and make sure they don’t change symptoms each time as the wording is important. Then silently go to a lemon lawyer and they’ll do the work for you.
I did it JLR when my new jaguar had some serious AEB warning they couldn’t fix and toyed with me for a full year.

Same issue as everyone else. Echo is heard by person on receiving end only when volume is 21 and above. I called 844-340-9741 to open a case with Genesis. The Genesis rep said she is not seeing any fix on their end for another couple of months (i.e., May/June 2024), which is ridiculous. She also confirmed that taking it to the dealership is a waste of time since they do not have a solution. Hoping that the more people file a case, the quicker they'll work on fixing the problem.

The process for these things is the third party who tests the infotainment system for updates and patches gets at least 90 days to do so before publishing it to us.

It’ll always take time as they will compile a few more fixes in it so they don’t push out so many updates

I have a 2024 GV80 Prestige Signature. After the most recent software update, when using my phone, the person on the other end of the line hears an echo of their own voice. I am told it makes it very difficult to impossible to have a conversation. Prior to the update, the issue did not exist. A few things to note:

1) I was using an Iphone 12Pro Max both before and after the update. Recently, I switched to an Iphone 15Pro Max. The issue still exists with the new phone. I also tried different cables, but no change.

2) It happens on bluetooth and Carplay. I typically use Carplay. I tried disconnecting bluetooth, but the issue still exists.

3) I have noticed that when I set the volume to 20, the person on the other end no longer hears the echo. The problem is, when set to that volume, I cannot hear the person while driving due to road noise.

4) The dealership tried updating the software, but that did not solve the issue. They now have ordered a new head unit.

Curious if anyone else had this issue and, if so, how was it resolved? I use the phone quite often for work while driving and need it fixed. Thanks in advance for any advice.

Nope, I have one and same echo problem

Were both your iphones using the same os? I wonder about this because my new iphone has a similar problem but i'm not even connecting to anything. I'm just talking on the phone. I do have the phone on "speaker mode" where i don't need to hold the phone to my ear. That's the only time this happens and i wonder if it just has something to do with a recent ios update. i just got the phone last week.

Same here. Issue started with newest software update.

The Iphone 12Pro Max used a prior IOS and then it was updated. The Iphone 15Pro Max used the updated IOS. The echo was there with both versions of the IOS.

Hi Everyone,

Post the fall update, whenever I take calls via bluetooth and carplay, the person on the other end gets an echo, it didn't happen before this update. Can some help me with this problem?
I have the same issue and contacted Genesis connected services which stated this is a known issue with iPhones, related to the recent Genesis software update. They are working on a fix on a upcoming software update.

Just bought the dongle…no luck! Would be nice to have the wireless, but have to go off of CarPlay to make a call. Not worth it.
